Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Our time has finally arrived. Not only are we playing the best style of finals winning football of the entire top 8, but also injuries and form of the others is working for us at the right time of the season.

If we play to capacity, we are 4 games from a Premiership.

It's not even embarrassing to say it out loud now.

Interesting Faulty, I went for a walk by the beach yesterday and today and there was a lot of Melbourne stuff being worn, I guess you aren't the only one who's not ashamed to be a Dees supporter now.

Walked passed the butcher shop with my Dees hat on and got the big shout, Go Dees.

For what it's worth, I think we will win the flag this year, at least.

Whilst it’s great to see our team in this position, as long suffering supporters Covid has dudded us.  After years of attending games in all conditions, watching us get belted week in week out, we now are deprived of attending games to watch the team rise to the top.  Watching on television is just not the same, no atmosphere, can’t join in the song with supporters, and walk away from the G bouncing along.  It’s so sad that as supporters of the club that has waited more than 50 years we are dudded to totally soak up that winning feeling.

Agree with your sentiments. Watching games on TV rather than attending week in week out just isn’t as good.

Although, with our list profile, our gun mids under contract, our key defenders at the peak of their careers and our exciting 18-20 year olds who are taking the AFL by storm, we’ll hopefully have a sustained crack at premierships rather than a once and once only crack at it in 2021.

You are correct but there is nothing we can do about it. I would rather this than a few years ago.

I hate that we can’t be there to enjoy this climb that we’ve all waited so so long for. We deserve to be there to cheer on the club, but my god if our performance in 2021 hasn’t been the biggest joy giver of the year for you, then you’re doing a hell of a lot better than most.
It has been a glorious distraction and something truly worth keeping going for. So thank you Melbourne for making 2021 a year that we might actually all never forget for the right reasons!

If we win next week we'll finish 17-1-4.

That will be the second-best H&A season put together by any club since 2013 (Richmond in 2018 finished 18-4).

Been a great year watching from Qld however we play like we did today and the coming weeks will be tough. I reckon today was nearly our worst performance for the year and we won by 7 goals. Go figure that out!.  Need to polish up on our skills and again kicking into the forwards but happy we are in this position and let's give those protected Cats a horrible thrashing to start off with and take on who ever we play there after.

Today was a performance of self preservation. Do enough but don’t get hurt. We are a week away from finals. Top 4 secured. Why would you risk injury or suspension against a team sitting 17th on the ladder?

We won by 41 points with the handbreak firmly sitting in neutral. This is what professionals teams do.

Thank god we don't have to play any bottom 6 clubs in the finals, they truely frighten me.

My nightmare is we finish playing West Coast in the GF in Perth. Sorry, silly me, West Coast won't be there will they 😂

Wasn't even close to our worst performance. Can't believe you'd think that.

Each of the North, first Adelaide, Collingwood, GWS and Hawthorn games was significantly worse than today.

We did precisely what we needed to do in what was in almost every respect a dead rubber of a match.

Exactly the feeling I got.

We rested a heap of our senior players more then we have in a game. I don't care how we won today, the bigger win is that we had no injuries.

Can someone also tell me where we rated in terms of age and game experience for the round? Reckon this could have been the youngest side we have put on paper for the year also.

Ask May how his eye socket is going 😡

I never want to see players injured but if Hawkins blows a hammy off the bone next week I would be delighted.

I wouldn't mind it if May took an extra week off. No doubt Hawkins will be throwing his weight and deliberate elbows around, so he doesn't have to play on him in finals. Smith deserves another go in round 23.

I loved how our backline performed today. We have to remember how little experience these guys have had at AFL match level. Rivers has only played 30 games, Petty 26 games, Smith 19 games and Bowey 3.

And can someone tell Eddie Mcguire to stop complaining about the MCC and how toffy the Melbourne supporters are. Eddie sits right next to the MCC stand when the Pies play every time, so a bit of pot kettle there!

It’s really been all you can look forward to each week watching our boys go round. I am definitely someone who would like to be enjoying this to the full but the good that this team has provided is worth its weight in gold. I just hope something can happen for us fans.

I did call it pre game that I expected Fritsch to get amongst it today, because he does enjoy beating up on weaker sides. I expect @Webber's comedy is directed at me, as I suggested last week that if he wasn't going to kick goals, what else was he bringing. 😜

His accuracy this season has greatly improved in the second half of the year and there's no doubt he's a dangerous element to our forwardline. Frankly, his offensive game is elite. It's his defensive game that I've had a problem with.

As others have said, what was most impressive about his game today was his defensive side, so either he finally got that side of his game right or the coaches got into him about it.

I'm quite happy to admit I dislike non combative players, but there are always those offensive players that provide enough to compensate for their defensive weaknesses, even in a side whose entire system is built around defence. Dustin Martin doesn't defend either, but he influences in other ways, so Richmond compensate for that side of his game.

If Bayley can bring the tackling intensity he brought for most of today to finals, he'll be a vital part of our set up in what will be a more contested environment of finals football.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned but thought Petty was superb today. Hard to imagine he'll be playing at Casey much over the next decade

Yep, another really solid game from Harry. Love how he knows when to go for marks and when to spoil. His judgement is excellent. He's going to be a great defender in a year or two.

I feel for the players as well.
Going into the finals on top of the ladder and we won't be there to shake the "G" like we did in 2018.
They deserve the adrenaline rush of 90,000 supporters losing their sheet.

Let’s try this again.

To the people who feel the need to comment on how negative the gameday thread is. Yeah, ya don’t say.

Gameday threads are full of venting. Some of it mindless. Some of it ridiculous. Always have been. Always will be.

If you can’t accept that, just don’t open them. Easy. Casting judgement on them just makes you look like a turnip.

And if you really want a gameday safe space full of sunshine and rainbows, go nuts. Just keep your “gee this place is so negative” drivel out of the gameday threads. It’s an emotional game.

Exactly and I say this because I’m as guilty as anyone.

Frankly, I’m sick of him quoting something to do with Collingwood at every opportunity. I don’t care about someone being somehow associated with the filth. If they are not playing in the match there should be no reference to that mob.

Wasn’t directed at you specifically, AF (tbh I forget who says what), just a more general vibe that Fritsch is bizarrely maligned. He isn’t perfect, much like every one of his mates. Clarrie is a horrible set shot, Tracc murders a good amount of his field kicking, Kozzie overruns the ball a fair bit, Dogga runs under it, Harmesy tries to take on too much, Nibbler can be fumbly. Fritta sometimes lacks a defensive edge. I think they’re all great, in a wabi-sabi kind of way. But here’s the thing. He is, by any measure anyone can use, our most potent, effective forward. For this reason I have no doubt he’s the first member of our forward contingent picked every week, and he should be. That his worth continues to be questioned, despite his shared flaws, is utterly baffling to me. He’s the first forward I want playing every week, because he is our best forward.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
