Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I am so happy with this season.

The end of the weekend, when we won another, was extraordinary, inspiring and set up my week up, beautifully.

Our loses to lesser teams to keep us on our toes.

The advantageous draw, the minimal injuries, not too many drama's, players appearing happy, stars performing, new players coming along well, coaches strategies and now guaranteed two final matches.

Plus the AFLW MFC team leading the way, and nearly getting the cup.

Much still has to go right and will need the footy gods on our side for us to climb up to be the premiers. Though I am satisfied with what the club has given me already.

Happy with small mercies.

Thanks MFC, however we end the year.

I’m with you re “the worst year of my life” J. Being unable to witness a Demons Premiership on top of 4 surgeries so far and a 5th around the corner! 😩

Yes well i didnt go to the last Grand Final and i probably wont go to this one (if we somehow made it) so id be watching on the TV anyway....but i would feel for people who really would want to go.

Adelaide would be a good option for ppl who wanted to drive its quite drivable.

Pre Covid I haven’t missed a home or Marvel game live in years. The only time I missed one was if I was traveling.
I sat through years of us losing week in week out by sometimes 15 goals, all in the hope that one day I will get to experience the joy of seeing us win a flag.
To have that taken away from me and any other long suffering fan would just be another piece of joy being ripped away from us in Victoria.

I've got a grand final guarantee so would be mortified to have the game played in Perth if we made it that far. We'd have to quarantine for 2 weeks and face extortionate flight prices. Who the hell can afford to take 2 weeks off work in this economic climate? If it definitely can't be played here I'd prefer Adelaide where fans of each side can at least drive there in nine hours and not be captive to price gouging airlines. If the ground holds 10k less than Optus they can add 16% to the cost of the tickets to make up the shortfall in revenue.

I think you'll find they'll leave the GF decision to the last minute. They'll just have options available interstate, such as Perth.

If the GF is not in Melbourne, you'll find it impossible to travel to the GF elsewhere, as it's almost certain Victorians will be locked out of any other state, like they are at the moment.

After the last lockdown ended and before this one began (a matter of a week or so), the NT and Tasmania opened its borders to Victoria. If that happens again, i'm tempted to take the punt and stay in the NT for a fortnight, which means i'll be able to go anywhere after 14 days there. I'm lucky though that I can work remotely and don't have anything keeping me here.

Optus only holds 5,000 more than Adelaide.

Caroline Wilson reporting that Gary Pert wants all finals that Melbourne play in to be at the MCG, crowds or no crowds.

Wilson has also mooted that Adelaide Oval may be an option if Port make the GF.

Eddie reckons the pre finals bye might be scrapped and a MCG GF be held on 18 September.

I am really coming around to the vaccinated can go if they pass a test within two days of a final… We are going to get to these compromise positions for summer - maybe we can test it out.

It won’t mean me probably - my first shot here in the ACT is Sept 8 but I want my dad and you guys to go.

Our risk appetite is so low tho… sigh.

Would 1 dose and a confirmed negative test be sufficient?

Why would they bring it forward a week? Wouldn't that reduce the size of the crowd (if there even is a crowd)?

I like the sentiment that underpins your post Cass, BUT please don't mention 1958 in the context of our finals campaign.

Totally with you. Finals taken interstate or held here, with us long-suffering left watching on the tellie, someone's cruel joke.

Max needs to lift silverware for us this year on the tellie & again next year - with all of us in attendance.

It's friggin time!!

Eddies form lately isn’t great with fixture related things, he predicted Melbourne vs Adelaide in Darwin which was flatly rejected and false.

Exactly - perhaps scrap the pre finals bye and have a pre grand final bye (like the NFL) so fans could travel and quarantine for 14 days should they be able to attend interstate?

Why bother with the 1 dose? A confirmed negative test should be sufficient. Assuming we knock this one (lockdown) on the head the GF is still 6 or 7 weeks away. While I'm not downplaying the threat, it is wise to remember there is still only a handful of people in Victoria that have covid out of how many million that live here? Get a negative test the day before and you should be right to go

That's not a bad idea actually. Probably slightly too logical for the AFL

It takes 12 weeks between first and second dose of AZ. My wife and I as 30 somethings have only just had it opened up to us. This rule would mean I couldn't go as I wouldn't get my second shot in time. You can't do that to young people....

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
