Bunch of Hollywood footballers. A worrying trend against the bottom teams, these guys dont bother to turn up and do the basics. We are not winning any cup and i said this prior to the Port game. The desire and mentality is not there. Tonights performance was a slap in the face.

My very perceptive wife commented, after I whinged about our performance against bottom 4 sides “at least you don’t have to play bottom 4 sides in the finals” - clever girl.

Agreed. Got sucked into the contest way too often and found five Hawks sitting off the back

Absolutely gutted by today, partly because I have seen Hawthorn get the better of us so many times. It really felt like they 'rope-a doped' us tonight.

Small beef irrelevant to the outcome - every time Matthew Richardson does special comments for our games, he spends the entire time barracking for the opposition. Both he and Darcy were pathetic.

And I'm not sure why Bailey didn't go for goal.

One team had 10 players under 35 games, one team had over 20 more tackles, one team had the ability to hit targets inside 50, one team gave their all, one team had a good game plan, one team had desperation and appetite for the contest.

the other team was Melbourne.

I disagree with those saying the draw is as good as a win. We had the chance to put a game and % between us and Geelong if we’d actually come to play. Instead it’s 2 points… so one slip up and they still jump us rather than 2 chances. We’ve let an opportunity to put a stranglehold on top 2 slip tonight which is just super disappointing.

All of you people talking about top 4 and top 2. I've proven you wrong time and time again! this is now proof. We are now unlikely to make the top 4. You are torturing yourselves by continuing to talk about top 2 and top 4 and have NO RESPECT for just how little you can trust this club.

SHAME ON EVERYONE WHO SAID I WAS NEGATIVE JUST FOR STATING I BELIEVED WE WOULD FINISH 5TH. Since my comment,  there has been numerous articles stating how we are at risk of losing that spot. And guess what, MORE ARE COMING!

LESSON: NEVER EVER doubt my knowledge of this football team.

Let's look at the positive that was our second best result against a bottom 4 side.

But seriously that game was putrid.

Yep, that along with bombing into forward 50, 3-4 blokes all flying for the same ball, individuals trying to do too much and Max trying to do highlight reel taps all game

Stock standard, we are weak between the ears, you just can't argue that

Brayshaw was never a chance to kick that goal. Fritsch would have missed also.

Between the ears is spot on DrDrake

Our mindset is all wrong.

when we play the bottom teams it should be to out tackle and pressure them not to out finesse them

I'm sorry but when are people going to start realising that I speak the truth! This was a bloody disgrace and top 4 is out of the question now. Most likely playing richmond round 1. Good job guys!

I am not sure why you are even on this forum.

It’s not the result, it’s the manner. I saw a really mentally weakened Melbourne team tonight that actually scared me. I know the topic to argue about is whether or not premiership contenders lose to bottom 4 teams and last weekend was a moment for all the ‘I told you so merchants’ to remind us that it happens to anyone. Problem is we have already used our full quota against crap teams. I’m genuinely concerned when the whips are cracking we’re going to fold faster than superman on laundry day. Don’t give me the bullocks about how we were so good at rising to the occasion early in the year. That was then, this is now. And now is closer to finals time so behaviour now is more pertinent than then.

Viney can’t hit a cow’s a*se with a banjo right now. Petracca started like Makybe Diva and finished like Mr Ed. Yeah, that’s all I gotta say about players right now because most of them were crap after half time. Votes are going to be like going to the all night dentist, which wouldn’t hurt right now after all the clenching I did tonight.

We have our best chance at something great in a long, long time. If we bring that bullsh*t to the finals we will get absolutely starched. Mentally and physically need to be on every single week now.

Absolutely spot on. Went apoplectic over that non decision

Mufasa FC - we couldn’t hold on but we didn’t deserve to. Hawks deserved the W.

Worst game of the year by a long way.

Fossil Football.

Katie Hopkins Football.

The ONLY good thing about tonight was we’re in our fifth Lockdown so I didn’t have to drag my sorry behind to the G to watch these pretenders in the cold and wet.

What a genuine putrid performance.

There was 0 positives out of tonight's game. Club drank its bath water during the week thinking this was going to be a walk in the park.

Petracca said last week we had our hunger and drive back. I then see at half time that him and Oliver are having a giggle and laugh at half time. Knew straight away that their minds were elsewhere.

Our mental fragility still lurks in the background.

We don't deserve to be sitting on top.

Correct

We lose a scrap, against clubs who can only scrap

What a weird feeling!

A draw!

Better than a loss I guess....??‍♂️

Still very disappointing as we are on top of the ladder and the Hawks are 2nd last.

A do agree that we are still definitely mentally weak.

A top team needs a killer instinct.

Dare I say being ruthless?!

Anyway, I hope the coaches and players treat it like a loss because a performance like tonight is unacceptable.

It's not a disaster in the context of the season but the signs aren't good really since the Collingwood game.  We've gone loss, bye, narrow win, loss, solid win v PA then draw where we probably deserved to lose.  I was really disappointed when a few blokes stopped and watched Gawn chase whoever it was in the third running into the punt road goals.  Gawny was stuffed but the bloke eventually fumbled and there was nobody to assist.  They eventually got a goal out of that forward thrust.  Shameful that the biggest and hardest working player in the team was the one doing the chasing while the Hollywood mids and others stopped to watch.  It's very disappointing but hopefully they get to play next week and redeem themselves.  And Sparrow should've played ahead of Vandenberg.  I can only think they were expecting conditions to be worse than they were.

Drawing against the second bottom side? I am seriously concerned. I’m glad we’re still number 1 but we hardly deserve it. We seriously need to rearrange our game plan. Take this as a warning.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
