Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Where will we play the Lions?

Got to say, I'm pretty pussed off with the NT govenment about them shutting up shop and then not paying us the $800k either.  That contract can't have been very well written.

Part of me is hopeful we could play it there again some other time and still keep the $800k, because I think we would financially need that fairly badly, but another part of me says that a potentially energy sapping trip to Alice is something we could do without and perhaps this is as good a time as any to say goodby to the mob of C U in the NTs.

Not the worst result.

I'm just happy it's on and not going to derail our fixture for now.

are tickets on sale yet or no crowds?? sorry I'm useless

Out at the adorable little stadium in Western Sydney. I have a soft spot for it because of the time I was there when the fourth quarter had to be a delayed restart because lightning was hitting more or less the stadium itself.

Could this actually be my first chance to get to a Demon's game in person in two years?

Don’t think the $800,000 is what we receive for the game, think it’s more like half that, the rest is in advertising. I have no time for the government here (or any politicians), but I hate to say that they are doing the right thing. A good proportion of the crowd travel in from remote communities, if the virus somehow got into the stadium, then subsequently the communities the death toll would be astronomically bad. As much as I would love the game to go ahead for selfish reasons, it is the right call.

Got out to Giants stadium last year to see wins v Hawks and Suns. It's our new fortress. Bring it on. I'm furiously building a possy to go out there to give those Lions heaps. Anyone want to hear any messages. I'll just yell them out and you'll hear them on the TV. Our group will probably make up half the supporters at the ground. All 5 of us. Otherwise it's a hell hole. The equivalent of trapsing out to VFL park except finding your car is a lot easier because they don't have crowds. It only costs about $20 in tolls each way too.

Big win for us Sydney siders but big $$ for the club. Would be great if AFL switched another home game to Traeger later in the year. Anything possible in this Covid era.

It's just snowed in hell. My wife and daughter are going to join my son and I. Never happened before. Real dilemma now. I have no idea how to behave at the football. They've never seen me at a Dees game before. It's only been 28 years with the wife and this a first. To be fair it's all been O/S or Sydney but still. Any advice on behaviour management at Dees games. They're already somewhat broken in having watched me screaming at the TV but this will be different. Hopefully they play nice and I'll behave nice.

At the moment the whole of Victoria has only 5 reasons to leave home.

When the lockdown is lifted I will fly from Albury. They are not giving us much time

Not sure about that. If you can still book flights and the border is open, I'm sure you can go to the airport, wear a mask there, wear a mask on the flight, and then find yourself in Sydney. It's what rules NSW applies once you're there that's the issue

Lockdown likely extended to at least Monday 11:59pm and as far as Thursday 11:59pm (10 June)  according to the latest reports.

I'll put in some extra loud ones for you mate. I really feel for you. Us interstaters don't get many of these opportunities and I really love watching the Alice game. I flew up to Darwin a few years ago for the game up there and it was an amazing experience. Am planning to get to Alice at some stage. Haven't been there for a while. It's a real shame.

Correct. SCG is a pointless stadium.

Apart from the money aspect, playing the Lions at Giant Stadium is a win for us. It is an easier trip than going to the NT and we play well there. Lions are not advantaged by this at all.

I know missing out on the money is really hard, especially for our club which has worked so hard to be financially independent of the AFL. But, in terms of purely football, this is not a bad outcome (if it is the outcome?!).

We really really need to beat the Lions, anyone who thinks the risk of playing at the Gabba is worth it, has lost their mind. Brisbane are directly competing with us for a top 2 spot. Imagine if we go to the Gabba and lose this game and as a result end up finishing 4th and needing to travel up there again in finals. No thank you!

This is the most important game of the our H&A season outside of last week. Make it 2 from 2 and top 4 is all but sewn up! Lose and suddenly we are par with the Dogs and Lions are only 1 game behind us.

When you say we play well there, when are you referring to? We've never beaten GWS at the ground...

Tickets on sale Wednesday apparently. If regional gets an unlikely exit clause on Thursday from lockdown, I might make a road trip up myself on Friday to add a few extra at the game. The new NSW travelled case of covid has probably ruined that chance though....

Gotcha, but not exactly a fortress.

We may well wake up tomorrow and find out that this can't be played there now anyway.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
