turn to Off the Record on 3RRR which is a great Sat morning show.

A "Wise" decision, Damo.  It's an excellent show.

The Coodabeens have been making the same snow jokes for 40 years now.  It's gone way past stale.

Just tell anybody who makes those sort of jokes to shut up or you'll increase their rent.  :D

I hate this stereotype of MFC supporters so much.  Myself and my diehard Demons family are all from middle/working class roots and have gone to support the club on match day through the horror years that were 2007 - 2016.

The hitting the snow slopes upper class MFC supporter might have been a thing 30 - 50 years ago, but I think it's pretty much a myth these days.  Those supporters all jumped ship to clubs like Carlton, Essendon and Hawthorn long ago.

Read my post on What they are saying at Punt Road. So sick of this [censored].

I and my family have never been to the feckkin snow. Ever.

They think they are so funny. Well I'm over it. Corona robbed me of any sense of humour. This stereotype is like a form of bullying. They want us to stop calling bread with hundreds and thousands on it Fairy bread because it upsets some people, well I'm calling out this snow [censored].?

I've heard many off these over the years... I've learnt to embrace it as a good thing and i make a point to go to the snow every QB weekend and drive straight to the G on the Monday... When we finally win a flag il get my chance to give some stick back?

Ah, that classic larrikin humour.  So glad it is able to survive despite all this political correctness.

I drive a 4WD, I quite like skiing and (no [censored]) I make cheese for a living.
I can make better jokes about me than the 5th rate hacks at the Hun could ever hope to do

I try to enjoy the Coodabeens Saturday morning. I like to think ive got a fairly thick skin but every reference - even the ok ones- to us includes "well done number 9" and they always crack up as if it is as fresh as ever. Been hearing it for 30 years now I reckon. I now dont turn the other cheek but turn to Off the Record on 3RRR which is a great Sat morning show. So... skins not that thick.

I’ve started screaming out WELL DONE NUMBER NINE a fair bit this season.

always get a couple of chuckles and a chorus of Charlie!!!

Who reads the newspapers ?

Who cares? They're just jealous we can afford to go to the snow during the winter while a big night out for them is pumping their dole cheques into the pokies

I'm going to start bringing cheese platters to the footy just cos I know it'll rile up the ferals.

That was the headline on the back of The Herald- Sun.  Will this crack at us ever die?

I wouldn't wipe.my ar$e with that tabloid low-brow populist rag.

Go number 5...

Couldn’t give a Rats what people say

i want the elusive 13th

( and all other MCG Tennants to go back to their Home Grounds)

The thing that always gets me about this is that during the bad years our members still kept turning up.

I believe we had the highest % of members consistently turning up to games, even through the Neeld years.

This belies the stereotype of band wagon jumpers.

Hawks supporters most definitely hold the title of biggest band wagon jumpers and those stick fat, side by side Collingwood mob are also very fickle.

They drop off very quickly.

i've literally never been to 'the snow'.. i do enjoy a good cheeseboard though. but not at the footy.

i don't know why people take it so seriously.

collectively we are seen as fickle supporters that jump ship and go to the snow instead of watch out team play.

next time you hear someone crack a joke, ride it and fire back.

"At least I can afford a snow trip. But I always make sure I'm back in time for the game. I even have a space up front for my Range Rover. How is Moe this time of year?"

Nah, better not to reinforce stereotypes. Just button up and point to the scoreboard.

I haven’t waxed my skis for the last 3* years.

* would have last year if not for covid

Saw a bunch of drunken Tiger supporters publicly urinating in Yarra Park on the way back to the train after the match....think I’d prefer to be associated with skiing and Range Rovers than those ferals

Ummmm.... You know that was a prank by The Betoota to prove how ridiculous the conservative media are right?

In fairness Lord Nev, it is difficult to spot the difference between a Beetoota article and the actual news. The recent article about the hit kids show Bluey not representing minority groups including dogs of colour and with disabilities.

Embrace it, as others have said it's a much better stereotype than having no teeth and being on welfare. The majority of supporters from most clubs all come from pretty similar backgrounds and social status.

When asked "Why aren't aren't you guys up at the snow?" while at a game I like to reply "We don't ski domestic!"

Gold.

Aspen, whistler, and japan for the odd weekend getaway when the polo isn't on

Hawk fans ski domestic. And blues fans whose vision stock has collapsed. Sheesh

Everyone knows nobody skies in April - we’re all too busy shutting down our Sorrento homes for the winter.

I just wish these nobody muck throwers would make like the ATO - and stay out of my business.

Last time I went to the snow was 13 years ago with a group of mates none of who follow Melbourne. While they were snowboarding I sat in the bar.

Before that I went once as a kid with my folks but that's it.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
