I genuinely hope none of the players or coaches read that

Please stay focused and understand there is much to do to even get into the finals - whilst having lots of potential this group has achieved very little to date

the Bulldogs fluked one in the sense that they had a good/lucky run at just the right time.

In 2018 we had one as well but failed badly in the West.

TBH I just want a successful season. Something that seems to elude us so often.

Have heard it all before...

Made a $1000 bet 9 years ago that we’d win a flag within a decade. Last year of the bet this season. Hope this article is correct.

You have my vote DJ. Just another article by one of the hordes of commentators who have to fill media space.

It’s sounds negative LH but I am from the same space. Seeing is believing as DJ said I will be more than happy with a season that gets playing finals.

Besides the fact that you have too much money fd anyone who bets on the MFC is really pushing the envelope. Your bet must have looked good in 2018 but this season? I fear your chances are at 100 to 1 at this point.

It's someone's opinion. No need to get triggered or worried the players might read it. Would you rather one saying we are going to finish last?

To be honest Clint Yes!

Nup. Not 2021.

Give it a year or two for our core players to mature into leaders (Oliver, Petracca, Weid, Langdon) and youngsters like Rivers, Jackson and Pickett to get more experience handling pressure.

I was enjoying the read until I got to the last line "Because Melbourne are coming, and in 2021, no one is safe in this premiership challenge."

This just reminded me of the Carlton slogan "They know we're coming" or whatever it is.....what a letdown!

I don’t believe we have the mental strength to string together a consistent season that results in threatening for a flag but I do agree with the point that there is more depth and capability in parts of the ground than we’ve had for a while.  Small back/one wing/small frwd my only real question marks at the moment - I reckon in prior years I’ve had a LOT more question marks

It will be interesting to see if Mark Williams can improve our kicking skills, until we can kick the ball better we won't win a premiership.

Every team is a contender at the start of the year, some just have a bigger mountain to climb and need more to go their way.

Interestedly I have been listening to the podcast "The great coaches" (Well worth the listen, coaches from every sport world wide).

They interviewed Paul Roos last year, and one of his points was at Melbourne, one of the problems they weren't holding each other accountable anymore.

We need to believe as a group that this is possible, and we need to toughen up mentally. I think we are not without a chance this year but it is fairly unlikely.

There are no super teams like the Hawks/Cats of old. The Tigers are very good but I think they have peaked. Then there are many teams that are average so anything could happen really.

I'm a really positive guy and believe the club is in a fairly good position at the moment but the last few sentences of that article made me feel nauseous.

Couldn't even beat one of Freo or Sydney to get into the finals.    Still a soft team.

It will depend a lot on what Yze and Choco Williams bring to the table.

I think the list is in the healthiest space since 2018. It’s not perfect, no list ever is, but at least we have options in a lot of positions.

I’m not convinced by the authors faith in Langdon and Tomlinson meaning we can play an ultra fit style of footy. Our on ballers aren’t great runners and we’re youthful in the flanks.

Work rate and physicality are the backbone of competing in afl games and  we should be able to do that. But winning is about coordinating pressure and coordinating and executing skills under pressure. I’m doubtful adding a few talented young players and a key forward alone will resolve the skills and cohesion problems.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
