Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I like JT.       Coaches/player development letting him down.

This.

Has brought in the cattle,  that is needed to play finals and big games.

Look at Gus Brayshaw. His draft year he was one of the most genuine all round midfielders and remember thinking he'll be top player in the competition in a few years. Comes 3rd in a brownlow and then does nothing for 2 years.

Its very concerning that this could continue on next year if changes aren't made.

Just now, Watts the matter said:

A clear win based on what? We had quality picks and the forcing a trade for Pickett is looking highly speculative.

Based on, at least, Jackson and Rivers.  Pickett has had his moments, although he has certainly been up and down with his form.

Thats depressing when you put it like that. Not to mention Goodwin continues to play Brayshaw everywhere but where he plays his best. Hmmm.

Brayshaw is the exact kind of player that Dermott Brerton was criticising in half time of the GWS vs Adelaide game; he said Goodwin is being too nice and there is too many players who drink their own bathwater and Goodwin needs to call it out

People need to stop thinking the Brownlow finish meant anything. Brayshaw stole all of Gawn and Oliver's votes because he's nice to the umpires where as the other two talk back to them.

We had an unsustainable game plan built around mids racking up stupid numbers of possessions and not doing any defensive work. We flooded numbers forwards and prayed the ball didn't get out the back.

It's disappointing how much Gus has dropped off but the Brownlow finish wasn't close to a fair representation of his actual output.

In the 2018 draft class Taylor focused on hard working good character guys because the list needed an injection of professionalism from the ground up. When you've been a basketcase for over a decade it's not just as simple as the coach for reasons players form drops off.

The list isn't close to ready to consistently play in multiple finals. We've seen that with the reliance of 3 first year kids being best 22. We still have big holes on the wing, half back/half forward hard running flankers, a solid key back and probably and inside mid with pace and skill.

I’ve had no issues with Jason’s recruiting, it’s our development that is puss. We seem to be great at making good footballers but not much else.

Right now Trac and a Gawn are the odd ones out with Clarry being on the tipping point.

FGSake the kid is 18/19 yo.

Has special skills etc and is only a shadow of the finished product.

Clearly Hannan AVB Bedford ANB and about 3 others are not grabbing a spot do Kossie is learning on the job!

Made a good fist of it last night just didn't finish off his goal kicking!

Jackson and rivers very happy with. But very doubtful as to pickett costing us a first and second round pick. I think he will be a good player but he cost us too much

What second round pick did it cost us for Kossie Isn't this  the North 1st rounder?

we needed to get a small forward  like Kossie or you would have been critical.

With the benefit of time, Picks 2 & 20 for Tyson, Salem & Hunt has been a massive fail.  Nicest bloke you’d ever meet is Dom, but slow as a wet week and I can’t remember ever seeing a worse kick for a left footer, and he has absolutely no right side.
Salem is a nice player and someone you’d have been happy to use a pick somewhere between 10 & 20 on.  Hunt is not quite AFL standard and will be delisted and not picked up by another Club.
2 & 20 for that result is part of the reason we’re just a middle to lower side.

Even with Kelly's sublime skills ( and substantial AFL funding GWS Has not won that flag after a decade.

Won't  this year and listblooking a bit ho hum  esp if Cameron departs

Except for the fact

Jackson is not a natural forward. He is a ruck/follower.

Kozzie having the pace of Hunt is meaningless if he cant get the footy and better compose himself.

Rivers was  good choice.

Remember blokes like Taylor are paid handsomely and they dont pick these kids out of the back blocks. They are on show all year. We need to kick  goals and we have missed the opportunity to draft a future key forward.

Wrong wrong wrong HFF

Jackson is a generational player like Nic Nat A freelancer that can do many roles and Is a  free spirit.

He Is a forward winger on baller ruck and HFFlanker all in one and so good below his knees with superb judgement in handball ing skills (elite like Clarry) but more particular when and where.

Happier with Kossie last night BTW he is only 18/19!!!

Riv is A JT special and in this case the No 32 had delivered a Bonafide star. Credit where credit is due please.

Add Langdon ( especially) and Tommo (Handy utility prob depth in long term ) but didn't cost us and is a win for 2019.

We need a little hurry up from Sparrow Jordan And whoever we retain plus Bedford but have Lockhart from
2018.

JT has been good to very good considering Recently.

No. I can look objectively at my own clubs recruitment and further than one game. Pickett has shown some positive signs but you would think he just won the rising star with you bringing up my post.

We have twice traded our first rounders forward and I'm not convinced on this strategy. Glad you are, but clearly you are easily pleased.

What is your problem with that.

Lots of green ticks for JT.  He is very very good.  If only he’d been at MFC for 2007-12.
I have every confidence in him getting us more and more quality kids.

The only strange one is 2018 and I’d love to have a beer with him to discuss it

We’d lost to the Eagles and had shown problems in pace and run.  I remember losing to the Saints in 2018 and thought we needed more young outside mids and wingers. I think JT was hoping for Xavier Duursma or perhaps Sam Sturt to be available but both were gone by our pick.

Tom Sparrow at 27. He’s a good kid and will be good but unsure how he fits our midfield structure as we had 5-6 inside mids already proven on the books and needed the outside run and pace. Most draft watchers had him in the 45-60 range. Will Hamill from Stingrays had been ranked early 20s and I thought we were ready to pounce.  Hamill went to Crows at 30

James Jordan at 33.  Another young inside mid who can play outside and has skill. Was ranked about 60-rookie range so a big call at 33.  Again not sure he was our need.
Bailey Williams was the big agile ruckman who dropped from top 15 range to be available.  Maybe because we had traded in Preuss was why we skipped on Williams.  Eagles stole him at 35. Sure we got Jackson as the next gen young ruckman but only because of a horrible MFC 2019.

They decided on the 3 players they wanted and they got them.

Analysing those selections against pick numbers without taking into account the entire draft, is an over-simplification of the situation.

If you don't trade up and take Kozzie, you probably don't get Rivers.

Also, Kozzie is a 19-year-old small forward. Complaining that he doesn't get enough of the ball is almost ludicrous. His impact in his first year has been significant.

I think Taylor has done a great job of analysing the talent without being influenced by hype.

Only correct after making the first trade. We already had a second rounder to get Rivers before swapping out our 2020 first rounder.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
