  • Dees mids run fwd of the ball and are poor defensive runners too. Could be a shoot out.
  • Melbourne likely to be underdone. 1 match in, what, 12 weeks.
  • If I played that fantasy footy thing Gawn would be my captain this week.
  • Demons should win this and well.
  • What have Melb ever done - well they won a premiership in 1964 - then won their opening 8 games in 65 ( and then spectacularly crashed ) and thats about it - havent done anything since of note
  • Fort v Gawn. This won’t end well if the Dees mids turn up focused.
  • Gawn will have 50 hit-outs, Fort may compete around the ground but he's a mile behind in ruck craft.
  • We have no match for Gawn-->their MF will run hot.
  • Is Melbourne even good?
  • We'll probably get a typical game where Melbourne don't turn up. We win easy, Dangerfield, Selwood and Ablett will be all smiles, Rohan will get a hand-pass over the top in the last quarter and fist pump like he's won the flag (because he cares so much), and it'll be forgotten again.
  • Surely Melbourne and Carlton aren’t going to be the ones to dictate our season, things can slip away too quickly this year. I’m confident we'll hammer Melbourne.
  • Melbourne still have to prove to themselves as much as the football public how capable they are. On raw talent they're up there with anyone, but until they start doing it consistently, the question mark will (and should) remain.
  • Demons are a bull at a gate type of team with players like Oliver, Viney & Brayshaw in the middle although the latter was moved out of the middle at times last year. They’ve brought in width with Langdon & Tomlinson, yet still butcher the ball going forward and run forward of the ball and get exposed the other way. If they put it together they can blow us away, yet they’re very inconsistent and poorly coached. They’re definitely a mood team.
  • Constable had a day out against Melbourne last year. Wouldn't mind seeing that again.
  • Don’t be surprised. Kolo down back, Blicavs into ruck, Sav up forward.
  • Tigers dump 4 premiership players after a loss. What does Scott do? Gives Harry a rest and brings in even more defenders. Bloke is just too [censored]-weak to make a statement.
  • This club under Chris Scott is a joke.
  • I think it will Sav to ruck, Blicavs to full forward so we can take advantage of his kicking and marking prowess. And Melbourne will be too surprised to counter.

they think a lot more of MFC than most demonlanders

Surprisingly good analysis by the Geelong supporters. Bang on.

That raised a chuckle.

I wish this site was as considered as the views in the OP.

I didnt shake my head at a single post.

The other footy club supporters arent as dumb as some on here think.

The Cats should be fairly confident this week, but they arent exactly OTT with their predictions.

Thumbs up to them i guess.

That post has particular significance. The truth hurts.

Absolute bull [censored]. We won the VFL night premiership in 87.

This sums us up perfectly in my opinion. I’m sure a large number of DemonLanders would agree, at least to a certain degree:

Demons are a bull at a gate type of team with players like Oliver, Viney & Brayshaw in the middle. They’ve brought in width with Langdon & Tomlinson, yet still butcher the ball going forward and run forward of the ball and get exposed the other way. If they put it together they can blow us away, yet they’re very inconsistent and poorly coached. They’re definitely a mood team.

No one remembers 1989 against Jeelong!!

Cold night out at Waverley

Respect to them, those posts are pretty bang on.

They're in so much denial and misery about missing out on that Panasonic Cup.

Yes we are a moody team IMO how else can it be said. I know one thing  a couple of good wins in our next 2 matches and the mood will change for the better.  That means  3 -1  and a game in hand.   JUST SAYING.

Cocky little turd this one.  It wasn't so long ago that Geelong were in a similar position.

Watch how quickly this forum will be eye rolling at Carlton's flag-less quarter century should we pinch one before they do!

As for the Cats - get your flag count into double figures, then come back to us.

Should we really have to give a rat's toss bag about what the farmers down at Geelong think about anyone?

I think we have a marginally better win loss record since 2000 compared to Carlton, but battling it out for least and second least sucessful team of the century is hardly something I'm going to do a jig about.

...it was bloody nice to beat the Blues by 100 odd points a few years back, but perhaps the Cats fans feel something similar about that fateful day down at Kardinia park Dean Bailey era.

They really dont like Chris Scott.  Amazing to think he won a flag with them.

I could have coached that team to a flag.

”team, go do what you have been doing for the last 5 years. Thanks”

Premiership won.

And then they did something that we haven't done for 56 years. They produced one of the great teams of the modern era.

Rightfully dismissive of our blokes.

They might post some sensible comments on forums but they act like total morons at matches.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
