It's perfect for us;  and will be better than eddies little jaunt up the road.

Now on that our social area should be between our oval and AAMI park.    And we can earn monies after footy games at the Mcg;  but also from passing trade after Stormers games as well. The AAMI stadium will be used frequently,  and IF we setup next to AAMI,  and we must keep our social area as far away from Punt Rd as possible,  for safety reasons.

We can make our club money from this type of Mfc venture,  by thinking outside of our MfcSS boxes.

Forget a Social Club.
The Club Canteen can be open when needed

This is going to be a highly criticised view point, but somebody needs to call out the utter and rank ‘entitlement’ that underpins this request from the Club.

It goes without saying on this forum that the MFC has, by-and-large, been appalling run for decades. Multiple cheating episodes and chronically bad management decisions, the latest of which was to sign-up an unproven coach for four years on an estimated 600K per year, have been the hallmarks of a dysfunctional organisation.

The club continue to approach the supporters when its dreadful decisions, or lack of good decisions, bites it on the bum. This is yet another example of this.

But this is what’s really *&%$ing with my head today.

The average AFL player earns $350,000 per annum. And they squealed when the AFL asked them to take a 50 percent pay cut for a few months during lock-down. The average salary for a nurse is $65,000 while a teacher might earn $70,000. A junior doctor working in the emergency department of a major hospital receives just over $100,000 per year. Nurses are putting their lives on the line during the pandemic for what many would consider a wage that is close to subsistence living, particularly if one has a mortgage in Melbourne or Sydney and a couple of children.

Then there are the millions of Australians who have either lost their job, or had their hours significantly reduced, and as a result, struggling to make ends meet. Granted, the Jobkeeper payment is of assistance, however many of these people are in industries that won’t ‘spring-back’ anytime soon and have no way of knowing what their earning capability will be after the 27 September 2020 when the program is due to be suspended.

So forgive me if I have a sense that the Club’s request for a further financial contribution on this occasion has a strong air of insularity, entitlement and quite frankly, disrespectfulness and unreality about it. Rather than lobbying its chronically abused supporters again, how about lobbying the AFL, which is complicit in this cluster-&#$*, and seek to lead the whole footy industry in a different direction based on ethical behaviour and the care for our fellows in the community who really deserve assistance.

What the hell is Pert doing now days? Said the first thing he was going to do was find us a new home. That was back in the end of 2018.

We are here today still with nothing.

I miss the days of Jackson and Roos....

I think you’ll have to go cap in hand to the AFL Mr Bartlett.

I almost brought a $250 jumper Wednesday, then I thought about my wife and 2 kids and thought what am I doing wasting our $ on this, they give us very little to enjoy. I’m a member, my 4.5 yr old and just about 2 yr old have been member since before birth. I’ve got 8 jumpers and 8 hats from Dees shop along with donating previously.

I won’t donate another cent until we’re a genuine finals team.

I'm a member and I can only get to two games every two years. So far my job is not in danger, though I have just received news of a looming "rationalization" of human resources. Given that so many others are struggling, I'm willing to give another $100 if it helps the team stay solvent, but for that I want to know that the players are giving their all. After all, that is only their job, so we have the right to ask that at any time, but now with so much going wrong in the world, time to lay it on the line. I did't see that today. What I saw today was [censored]-weak, incompetent football and no team that plays like that deserves success, let alone to exist on the largesse of supporters.

The President needs to told what Supporters really think on Wednesday night.
He better have some serious answers, because i do not want to hear fluff.

Had enough waiting and learning, and more than enough patience.

Same talk every year, but nothing changes for long. It all crumbles and we start again...

$280k already is good. Obviously plenty happy to give no questions asked.

Reckon that total would be substantially higher if we were playing well atm.

This is a very good post, but one qualifier needs to be added. Nurses can do their job for 40 years and so can teachers. The best professional footballers might get 15 years (and a few exceptional ones a little longer). Most will have a playing career far shorter than that. Once they've finished playing football, there are far fewer jobs within football to continue with gainful employment in the same industry and many will not have an obvious career path to follow in retirement. In addition, many will finish with chronic injuries and pain. Yes, they choose it as their career, but I think we should be mindful of these additional matters before we criticise what they earn.

Give money, don't give money; that's a completely personal decision that is nothing to do with anyone but you.

However, the idea of not giving money because we are currently playing poorly only makes sense if you believe that quality facilities, equipment, coaches and players don't cost money.

I chipped in - did the jumper plus happy ending experience.  Hope I’m not going to be disappointed...

I support the club.  I know we are playing crap, but I still support the club.

We had a moment the weekend before last when everyone else was playing -  and we weren’t. I simply cannot imagine not having the Dees to look forward to. No matter how misguided, under performing or mismanaged the masses on this forum feel about us. Once we are gone, we will never, ever, be coming back. Worth thinking about.

A "Proud to Belong Guernsey" with Nev Jetta's number on it will some day be mine. A great idea from the club -- mementos are good.

I just ordered one myself, they do look great and if it helps the club all the better. Go Dee's.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there are 3 levels per player , they used to be listed on the site . Its great option with plenty of benefits, demonland sponsors a player to 2 I believe also ?

I had Jesse from when he arrived and now have Steven May. fantastic to be able to sit down with them and have a coffee , or water and chat.

So the footballer gets 15 years to chase a ball around a field... Whats stopping them become a nurse or a teacher post footy? Nothing! They probably even have better opportunities than most as they can earn a degree whilst earning big bucks playing footy! Playing footy is a privilege.....
