Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

Out TMac, Jackson, Jones.

In Weideman , Pickett Hibberd.

Hibberd to go back and Smith to go forward.

Jetta has also been pretty shaky the last few games and is close to getting dropped for mine. So Jetta for Lockhart Is another possible change.

Our biggest problem is turnovers and keeping possession and he is number 1 for turnovers.

Look at Eagles game again.

Need a tall backman that can hold his own, must be on our list to play the next game  to replace J Smith.

Has to have some sought of experience and would have played some good games in his career.

Has to be able to man up  and take a timely mark and not a mark of a century type one.

MOST IMPORTANTLY not knock out some of your team mates when competing for the ball.

Must be able to read the game linking and not letting your man free to do as he likes.

Don't reply if it does not fit your description.

One change   in.  OMAC

No way Hunt gets dropped. They will also persist with Smith. Weid responded, and therefore deserves a chance.

Essendon only have 1 legitimate tall, so no need for O'Mac.

----

Ins: Weid, Pickett

Outs: Jackson, ANB

----

Smith - May - Jetta

Rivers - Lever - Salem

Tomo - Viney - Langdon

Trac - Weid - Hunt

Pickett - TMac - Fritsch

Gawn - Oliver - Brayshaw

Bennell - Harmes - Jones - Melksham

Smith's performance cant be rewarded by a move forward, he show no understanding of his role and let his teammates down. I thought Jackson was better than TMac.

Why we didn't send Harmes to tag Cripps at least for a while befuddles me and if Richardson is fair dinkum he needs to ask Goody that question.

Harmes in 2018 shutting down superstars week in and week out and hurting them the other way.  He was a huge part of our success that season in finals.

Now hes been moved to a role hes never played in his life and is not suited to.  WTF is going on

At which time of the game did you think Cripps need tagging?

The first quarter when we dominated and he got 7 touches and did nothing with them? The second quarter where he only touched it twice? The 3rd quarter where he had 5 touches and 2 clangers. Or the last quarter where he still only had 2 clearances?

The midfield did a very good job on Cripps. Easily Cripps' biggest impact on the game was when he went forward in the last quarter and we couldn't get the zones/roles or match ups right.

Marc Murphy was the Carlton midfielder who hurt us most. Langdon is a bit improvement but otherwise our midfielders still struggle to defend in space which is very concerning.

Hi all,

a quick few questions if someone would care to answer as I haven't been in a position to focus on this upcoming season. Not that it would have done me any good as we still seem to be the same Goodwin coached mob. But anyway

Where is Vanders, Weidemann, whats the go with them?

Spot onMr. Leg. The essence of failure is to keep doing same things and To expect a different result.
Our FD is bottom five material. Until we improve them the team will stay there with them.

We actually might have been better to lose yesterday then everyone would realise the Emperor has no clothes.
no finals this year and the FD will not be able to hide behind “injuries”!

TBH OD, I don’t think there are too many happy Dees fans  today, maybe relieved, but not happy.

To be 45 points up early in a second quarter and then to score one goal two points for the rest of the game, on a dry ground, is an absolute disgrace. Making it worse, they were one man down during this period.
Happy, no, relieved we are 1-1, maybe.
The cattle are not the problem here, the mindset of players and the coaching is, coupled with a lack of disposal skill under pressure.
Leaving your man to go 3 up in defence is just dumb. Kicking to outnumbered team mates is just dumb. Not adapting to a run on by the opposition is just dumb.
After 60 years of fanatically supporting this club, it is bloody hard to keep going, when everyone but the people in charge apparently, can see what is wrong.
Simple task this week, anyone who kicks to an outnumbered player against the Bombers, can run the tan as an extra bit of work and put their place in the team the next game at risk.

I agree here, but I would push Tmac up the ground, his endurance is his asset and even though he is looking like he can't turn I would rather him up the ground clunking it and hitting up targets, then deep in our fwd line when the ball hits the deck and he can't provide any pressure i50.

I think Hibb comes back in, yes his ball use is pretty average but he is a defender and a pretty good one at that. Message to him should always be lower the eyes and hopefully some of the way that Rivers plays rubs off on him.

Salem is great coming out of d50 don't get me wrong, but it's time to test him out forward of centre or more up the ground hitting players on the chest. He doesn't have much zip and if he can set up play going inside 50 then that's a win.

Milkman is dropped for me, hasn't shown anything and tends to be a touch lazy when it goes the other way.

Jones on thin ice but holds his spot

Why, if the Brainstrust at Demonland want Smith up forward, can't the footy dept see it???
Beggars Belief really!!

Hopefully Sunday morning with a latte has kicked in and for some the emotion of a close shave has cooled to almost rational. The merry-go-round mentality of changes for next week that many here appear to ascribe to 'beggar's belief' (quote). Perhaps brainwashed at demondland is more apt.

Well we won ( unconvincingly to be sure) and ,given the disruptions of the preparation, I reckon the selectors will be looking for continuity and a settled side as far as possible.

Kossie was selected originally so, despite his stupidity, a place will be found for him because his pace , and hopefully ability to snag a goal, will be invaluable against Essendon. ANB will probably be the unfortunate out.

Jackson looked raw and inexperienced because he is raw and inexperienced. In a normal season ,if he was debuting now , he would at least have had a few Casey games behind him. We definitely lacked a strong marking forward so Weid will get another chance.

Smith produced a couple of shockers but the fact we won and he has had an even longer break than others will probably get him another game. If not, Oscar is the logical replacement. I don't see the Smith forward experiment happening.

Tmac must lift.

IN Kossie, Weid

OUT ANB Jackson.

I’m just shocked at anyone who doesn’t have McDonald and Melksham out, they had zero positive impact between them.

40 inside 50 gives me pause as a forward. I didn’t like their game but for 3 quarters we were nowhere as a team. Hard to discern how we want to play and get it to our forwards.

From the few opportunities they did have they looked out at sea, that’s my big concern.

the amount of freewheeling going on inside the square and around the contest is very concerning going forward

Another reason why Harmes should be in the centre and not in the backline.

You wonder if McDonald is a bit like Patton.Big and relatively slow. Has the game passed them by. If so it's a worry because we are definitely lacking the mobile forward.

Fritsch being on target would help

I would like to hear more from the experts as to whether there is room for both Smith and Lever in the backline. They seem to be playing similar styles.

Who do we have to go with Tipungwuti?

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
