Surely would be all over the news by now if true

I wrote too soon?‍♂️

Hoping it’s only minor and injuries are bound to happen but I have been saying for months they’ve been going very hard. Gawn’s the type of player who shouldn’t need much more than fitness and skill work. Anyway, just hope the big fella is ok.

This is dreadful. Gawns influence on the side can't be underestimated.

Nailed it! I believe there is some ruckman called Brodie Grundy who had 73 Hit Outs and 10 Clearances in a prelim....team still lost.

Is Gawny an important player? Absolutely! But he is by far, not our MOST important player.

Gawn won the B&F, just interested who you would list as more important, I have him at the top of my list.  Sure we can still do well without him, but he is the most important IMO

Hopefully it’s not too serious, we need Max fit and firing against the Eagles, in round one.  He sets the bar high for the young players to follow. I’ve got everything crossed for a positive outcome.

FMD not a great start to the weekend or yr.

Sad I know, but every time I open up Demonland it's something I hope not to see.

Not today unfortunately...

Training would finish at around midday? afl.com story drops at 5:30pm (with very little info, no club comment ect) 30 mins after injury first reported on demonland. Interesting

Fingers crossed all ok

Pruess has got this.

Our MFCSS sufferers will really feel comfortable that we'll be in safe hands...should the worst be confirmed.

OK... I have the dreaded MFCSS

Just now, whatwhatsaywhat said:

when things are glum there's worse to come...but honestly this is exactly why we a) recruited preuss and b) drafted jackson

Exactly - it seems typical that when we get injuries it always our best players, and hopefully it’s not a major issue,  but if our worst fears are realised, maybe it gives Preuss and Jackson a run at it that fast tracks their development.

Tom Browne 'reporting' there's no structural damage and likely a few weeks.

He does get a bit wrong though and he did clarify by saying the Dees haven't said anything yet.

People losing their minds without even knowing the severity. Calm down until it’s been confirmed how serious the injury is.

Here’s hoping

Hoping all is well with Max.

But this does highlight why having a mature, fit, big-bodied ruckman at Casey was a very good list management decision by the club.

Many were calling for Preuss to be traded last trade week, but a moment like this highlights how essential (but hopefully not needed) he is.

He would have had the scan already, the club saying he would get it over the next few days is rubbish.  There is no way they would wait.

It could mean he won't get injured in the bushfire relief jaunt

  • NON-MFC: Round 02

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Sunday’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

  • POSTGAME: St. Kilda

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
