Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Because it’s the same team that made the prelim the year before.  So we had a poor year, let’s cut wages!

No, not cut wages, but replace NQR footballers with traded in or drafted players, who are better, or will be better.

What was the rush to give ANB a new contract and of 2 years? Were we scared the other clubs would want him?

Time to get off his back Red, we all know what you think. He’s MFC so let’s support him.

ANB is a role player, a great team man, the right age and you have to show some faith in your playing list.

Keeping ANB also has no bearing on us getting other players.

Wouod Keath choosing dogs be another factor? Or is it simply cap space?

Keath would have been a good get as a predictable, solid citizen. Frost is completely unpredictable and doesn't engender trust with team mates and their positioning.

May, Keath and Lever playing interceptor would have been great. I wonder if we've got anything else up our sleeve. Otherwise, maybe Petty has to go back a year earlier than I would have hoped.

I thought you said it did? If it's the difference between Frost and Elliott, it's just as easily the difference between a two year deal with ANB.

Frost had a very good Frost year.  Can he improve even further?

He's the only player outside Max, Clarry and possibly Salem, Fritsch and Harmes who actually increased their trade value this year and trading any of them is in a different league from considering a Frost trade.

Posters focussing on what we might get in return and those saying "sell high" are on the right track.

Probably correct there D11.  A very loyal servant and apart from the first half of this season (injured or compromised pre-season?) he usually trains the house down and pressures/tackles runs his butt off on game day (many first half games an exception this season though).

He also gets on the end of alot of ball.  Ranked No.1 last season in uncontested.  To give some idea of how far he (and the team in general) dropped off this season he fell 17 places this season to 18th!

Fairly limited footballer with ball in hand though and out of the 38 players who graced the field this season he ranked 26th with effective disposals.  Last year he was ranked 19th so a slightly better result but that's probably about as good as you're going to get with him on the delivery side.

However, i beg to differ on the faith part as, imv, we've shown significant faith in him and  doubt he would have survived on many other lists (22), barring the regular bottom quartile clubs of late.  As a depth player on a few more clubs a little higher up the rung? Sure.

A one year extension would have been more than sufficient and review at the end of 2020 to free up room IF he doesn't improve substantially on this season's ordinary performance.  Not sure why or where the two years came from but maybe theré's some method to Taylor's madness.

Some serious questions needs to be asked on how the hell that a team finishing 2nd last is bursting at the salary cap??

That you have [censored] fart deals to blokes like Josh Wagner and Alex Neal Bullen for 2 years!?

Is this Mahoney again doing all this??

This isn't just MFC, it's what happens when your injury list blows out and unexpected match payments come in to play

Yes they do, always puts pressure on club accountants and needs to be considered for list management decisions.

I don’t disagree with you in regards to his skills but he is in the team for his running and pressure ability.

I think he is in our top 25 players and therefore adds depth, so im happy with the 2 years

I thought Petty showed a lot as a forward (needed some work on skills, but didn't look lost).

I felt getting Keath would have given us a lot of flexibility. Im very keen to see what else is in store for the trade period.

Yep, Petty did well forward, but I reckon he's ultimately an interceptor at the back.

Frost will be in a Melbourne jumper

tomorrow, he’s our rep for the Grand Final sprint.

Watch for him to lead until the 50m mark, then lose his bearings, change direction and run up the players race.

The club in its wisdom are seizing the opportunity to have him walk through the mounting yard one last time in order to push his price up. They’ll be oiling him up to the hilt to have him glistening.

”We convinced him he had to run in the grand final sprint to get the contract over the line haha” said Mahoney.

Maybe not in isolation but keeping the likes of ANB and Jones impacts our ability to keep Frost and land someone like Elliot, both players far more useful and key to our structure than the aforementioned midgets that have had little to zero impact in games for most of 2019.

I'm on the fence regarding mr Frost, it's a very big call to trade him, we really lacked continuity throughout the season, can we rely on May and Lever playing every game they need to develop cohesion.

Continuity is definitely important, but if you get your defensive system right, we should be able to plug and play a bit, as well as cover for injuries, providing we don't have too many.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
