  1. We'll have greater problems than just that pick if we're finishing bottom 5 next year.
  2. Would be overs on our end pick-wise. Club would have to be super confident the player they're after would still be available by then.
  3. Just a thought but for us now we might be targeting one of Essendons picks to move up the order. 18 or 19 + 28 equals roughly pick 8 or so. 18 + 19 would get us up to around pick 5. From Mahoney on trade radio today he did mention that he thought some players they had on the radar may slip through to the picks we now have, so we may just sit back and let JT do his work.
  4. We're basically helping out Collingwood with their NGA whilst betting ourselves against a team that still finished top 6 this year. Doesnt seem like a very high reward. Pies wouldnt agree either.
  5. not a chance. why would we trade our future first for those 2 picks, to only send them back to the pies for their future 1st round.
  6. Seems strange that we're doing this all now and not after the conclusion of trade period tonight? Really seems like we're up to something.
  7. Looks like we're going all in on the next 2 years
  8. I think that's all she wrote for us getting players in. Doubt Tmac gets offloaded given Mahoney's talk on Trade Radio, so would think we've set up shop and may entertain some pick swaps once trade period concludes tonight.
  9. The old chicken train is failing to even hit the dartboard on most of these “scoops”
  10. I'd agree, but I dont think the sticking point would be just salary either. We don't have the picks to satisfy Essendon and Dodoro for Saad so it'd seem borderline impossible at this point.
  11. How does 2-3 plodders that would maybe cost 300-400k a piece make us any better when you can go hard for 2 star players that make us immediately better in areas we're clearly most deficient in (Whitfield - wing/hbf, Kelly - wing/outside mid). We're not as light on for depth as you might think, but we lack the match winning players in those areas.
  12. Im optimistic we'll strike a better deal than a future 3rd rounder out of the dogs for Hannan but the rest sound very fair
  13. I think it'll help more with quarter lengths looking likely to at least increase by a few minutes, as well as a longer season to allow for more rotations through the midfield. I don't think we'll be seeing as much of the same 3-4 players dominating midfield minutes as they were this year so hopefully that allows Harmes and Brayshaw to push through at times and play their more natural roles. Harmes could even have the role of playing off the half forward flank and negating the oppositions best running half back whilst still offering some damage on the scoreboard as he's shown he's capable of.
  14. Much better option than McKernan. A dedicated ruck who is there for the chance that Gawn goes down and will hopefully play ressies all year.
  15. I know it's very early in the piece with trade and draft period yet to conclude, however it'd be interesting to see what people think is the best mix for our 22 given who may be coming in/going out for next years season? Could be a best possible scenario or what you think may happen this trade period with likely inclusions. FB: Hibberd May Lever HB: Salem Tomlinson Rivers C: Langdon Oliver Baker/Phillips HF: Fritsch Weideman Brayshaw FF: Pickett Brown Hunt FOL: Gawn Viney Trac INT: Jackson Lockhart Spargo Harmes Next few: Melksham, Smith, Sparrow, AVB It doesnt look too likely that there'll be too many more inclusions past Ben Brown this trade period, however would still love to have Phillips on the wing. My only other thought is if Tmac stays, I'd like to see him have one last crack at CHB and see if Tomlinson can crack that wing role, if not I still think that we're relying too much on someone like Baker to perform out on that wing at this stage in his career. I know Melksham seems to be immune from the axe at selection, but I really dont think he has too much to offer that Fritsch already does.
  16. Could this be why Mahoney has come out with the "relatively quiet" trade period talk? Maybe we've understood that its unlikely we'll be able to offload him to another club and any salary we could have used for another quality player or two just isnt there anymore. If it's the case then the only way I could realistically see him playing again is down back. Doesnt have a future down forward with 3 others already ahead of him.
  17. I don't think he's a utility and havent said anything of the like here...but unless we find another pure ruckman this trade period he will have to pinch hit in the ruck with Jackson.
  18. Not that im for McKernan coming to us, but Tony Sheahan has been so far off the mark this year so wouldnt read much into it. Imagine thinking a player would make the basis of their decision on playing at a certain stadium? I've never even said he's utility ! But unless you're going into a game with two dedicated rucks like the Eagles, Power, Lions and Tigers (for most of the year) your forwards do have to pinch hit in the ruck. Mckernan is a utility and not a dedicated ruck so I'm just struggling to wrap my head around this move.
  19. So is Tom Lynch but he ends up in the ruck at times too.
  20. When has it ever been the job of the key forward to apply massive amounts of defensive pressure. Weid and Brown are there to make sure we kick more goals than the other team and therefor win us matches of AFL football.
