Any news?

I would think 5pm is the latest time for nominations...

Looking like we haven't nominated Woey's boy as a father son, which means we can't match a pick. Maybe  that means we don't think he will be in demand or maybe we want to add him to the list after national draft as a rookie.

This is a last minute decision obviously.

We have 4 spots available and picks 17, 37, 48, 57 and 94.

Wonder of they'll try and bundle 48 and 57 for an earlier pick or trade a pick for a 2022 pick. Doubt Woewodin will go before pick 57, or even draw an opposition bid at all. Pick 94 should get it done.

Whatever, the boy gets a spot on the main list.

Good news, I love the prospect of a son playing for the team his father played for.

II watched Woey play his first game for Melbourne, at that time there wasn't a great deal of information available on the new recruits, so I knew little about him, he was quite impressive.

I reckon we'll try, it's just whether there are any takers.

Wonder if he'll also get the nickname Woey.

Good news.

Do the experts around here reckon he’s any good?

I'm still working on whether Goodwin is a good coach.

No romance in this for me. Billy Stretch for instance, was a third round pick.

Only question for me is that he is the best player available at the pick they take him.

Well Praha you are a very slow worker.

Stop over thinking and look at the results and give credit where credit is due.

Basically Goody  oversaw ALL that happened in 2021  All the coaches and players 24/7 and a hundred and one other issues throughout the season.
Evety time we were 3 goals down in a big game we responded and rarely failed.

Pies and Giants and Dogs we came up short in the middle of the season but that all helped us learn about ourselves.

We grew and exploded on the big stage and ended up with our biggest and one of the best GF wins to claim our 13th flag. In Goodys hands are our 14, 15 and 16 th flags potentially.

Lets give him our unwavering faith and support to achieve that and lay a stronger base than ever before for our future and growth in this all conquering AFL competition.

I'm not an expert but I take an interest in watching some kids when I think they are a chance to be picked up by us.

From what I’ve seen Taj is great below his knees, picks the ball up really cleanly and can kick with both feet.
He doesn't get huge disposal numbers (mid 20s every game) but does a lot with it, good decision maker and he has gotten better as the year went on.

Mainly played inside and outside midfield but he also has a bit of flexibility, his talents could developed to be used in a halfback role like Salem/Bowey or half forward role like Spargo/Neal Bullen role but I'm not sure on his tank.
In the draft combine he was 2nd best in the 20m sprint with a blistering time of 2.89 seconds.
He was captain of East Freo this year which is always a good sign in regards to a players character.

I read an article yesterday on SEN saying he models his game on Steele Sidebottom and Mitch Duncan.
From all reports he is driven and professional, so I think given the opportunity at the Demons he will flourish around players with similar hard work ethic like Brayshaw, Petracca etc

We will probably use pick 49 on him.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
