Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

So let me get this straight - your little comment is designed to inflame and is devious in its intent. Are you for real. Probably big names players wanting out.

Petraccas manager sat down with the club recently. Wouldn’t be surprised if he wants out.

Brayshaw has looked unhappy all year. Wouldn’t be surprised if he requests a trade to WA to be with his two brothers at WA clubs and his family living over there.

People being defensive need to realize we have had a horrible year, and coming off the back of so much promise has made it even worse. Defend the club all you want, but fact is the club is currently failing. Financially, this year will be a shocker. Onfield, well best not to talk about it and thank god for basket case expansion club saving us from yet another wooden spoon.

  1. Up to three starting 22 players are set to demand trades.
  2. Club set to announce financial loss, debit to increase.
  3. Murmurs of a heated exchange between a powerful club exec and Goodwin following last week's match.

Make no mistake, the Doom Loop is now full circle. Prepare yourselves. Once the finals end, it's all going to break open.

Most important off-season in the club's history imo.

I believe Petracca's concerns has been what has prompted some heated exchanges between coaching team and the board. Essentially he is unhappy, and the board is pointing the finger at the coaching team.

This all falls down to a disastrous pre-season. Goodwin and Co. have been the catalyst for this.

Of course it is. Lets say rumours of players wanting out are true they are not going to learn that at meeting with the AFL.

They might however learn that the AFL is not predisposed to giving us any financial help, which is no doubt what we are asking for.

And on this, so what?

  1.  Lets see what happens. Might go the same way as the so called 'big' announcement that was supposed to happen last Sunday that you jumped all over. But lets say it is true we don't want the tail wagging the dog and to be honest there are only 4 or 5 best 22 that i woud be shattered to lose. In any case we have most of our best 22 under contract and i suspect might be  looking to trade some anyway (eg Brayshaw, Hunt)
  2. Der. No sheet sherlock
  3. Stuff happens in a year like the one we have had in a very emotional environment like footy clubs

The Doom Loop? Most important off-season in the club's history? hyperbole much. What a load of over the top histrionics.

The Doom loop is good name for death metal band by the way.

Succinct and accurate comment. Post bye there was an air of desperation around the club. Sure there were more injuries but there was just zero improvement.

People underestimate what the club had budgeted to receive in those last three MCG matches which were simply disastrous. They would have also been budgeting for a slight increase in sponsorship and at least 10% increase in membership numbers in 2020. Both areas are likely to see a drop.

Our request to the AFL would have been for money so we would have painted a bleak picture.

I can see that the doomsayers have leached onto this as actual fact. The fact that I've never trusted most of Damien's articles, and that the line is so vague that it could mean absolutely anything, makes it reek of someone hoping "that the dart has hit the board" if anything does happen.

I'll wait for more concrete evidence, but I believe this is more to do with the club financially than the playing list.

I don't buy this. Petracca's actions on the field are not the actions of a disgruntled player. He's vocal, team oriented and has played his role beautifully. I'd be staggered if he requested a trade.

It would be pure frustration. Five years in or thereabouts and you find yourself in a team that goes dramatically backwards big time with a coach who just doesn't have the answers.

Player loyalty disappeared years ago. He wants a successful football career. Can he get it at MFC. I don't know and I am sure he and other players are wondering the same thing.

52,000 members, up nearly 6000 mich would be 1.5mil additition revenue.  I'm all for selling off the Pokie venues as long as we have a business plan to replace the revenue we generate from these venues.  You take that out and it is a fair whack.

Players wanting out lets start with O McDonald he will definitely want out he is behind May, Lever, Frost and Hore, add in Stretch and JKH blokes that think they deserved more opportunity, even Hunt, you will always have players that may be considered fringe best 22 looking to get out.

Brayshaw is one that I don't know what went on with him in 2019.  Was out on the wing a lot , last few games down back to get a touch and I rate him as our best center clearance player.

No question the club has a massive 12 months facing them, we know Peter Jackson wasn't happy in the why the board appointed Pert, we haven't really seen our heard from Pert at all this season.  The Footy manager was dead keen on the CEO role, that is going to cause friction.

One thing is for sure we just can't get it wrong again.

Whatever the case, I love the use of the lazy words "up to" which is so common these days.   When you don't know, pick a number and say "up to" as in "Up to 3 starting players".  It can can mean 0,1,2 or 3 so you are safe as long as there are not 4 or more.

Tracc just wants more midfield time, and he seemed to get a fair bit last Saturday. Reckon Burgess will have him in run all day shape by JLT.

Amazing though that players would want out after one bad year.

I agree. Either the players are that fickle, or they're being chased with more coin. As we've seen with Richmond, things can turn around in 1 preseason after a bad year.

On the money Binman!

DB is a [censored].

Financial loss is certain. Low crowds late in the year would have been very costly. However, the 52k members shattered last years record so it's not doom and gloom.

We won't have a big drop off in membership next year. It's easier to resign as a member than decline.

As for players potentially wanting out, fine. It just presents another opportunity to improve our list, whether it be by draft picks or players.

Credit to the club, they've acknowledged theres been a disaster but have taken steps. New director of coaching, new fitness coach and a gun under 23 year old player coming in already not even 7 days after the final game.

Hold the course!

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
