Both good kicks but Young is your absolute cream on the top. You'd simply get the ball in this blokes hands at every opportunity as possible.

Then that is exactly who we need

Lol.

Explain to me how the AFL [censored] us over?

Let me know the last time we turned a top draft pick into a genuine star.

It's an expression of exasperation, not meant to be taken literally.

It's upsetting that I have to explain that, as you would say.

Some pretty good pick 3's over the journey.

Alternatively, I hope we go hard for Ben King.

They need incentives to keep the players they already have, they don’t need more 18 year olds who don’t want to be there.

Agree. Martin, being a top pick is on the move. I now live up here in Qld and NO sporting club, AFL, Rugby, BBall etc on the Coast have flourished. In most cases they just fold. The locls in the main are just not interested plus many Mexicans who still support their own teams.

Moving from 2 to 3 could the difference between Jono O’Rourke and Lochy Plowman!

Now this is the sort of thread we should be used too.   2018 was an abnormality, its good to be back to reality, where is my drink !

Ash - Strong half back/ midfielder who's biggest strength is his high speed and power to break the lines. Started the season and under 18 championships as a running half back flanker whos intercept marking is also highlight. After the championships ended, there were question on whether Ash could push up into the midfield. Proved that theory correct by averaging around the 24 disposal mark since playing as an on baller. Ripper bloke who is co-captain of the bushiesand a really driven individual. 187cm 84kg.

Young - Half back player who like Ash was questioned whether he could make the transition from back to the midfield and again proving that he's adding more strings to the bow by pushing up to a wing and winning big numbers around the midfield. Shows absolute class and silk with his dead eye right foot kick. His ability to kick low flat 50m kicks to a target is seriously a sight to behold. 188cm tall who is also a strong intercept mark and someone who would make an immediate impact for an AFL club next year as a half back flanker/wingman. Lachie Whitfield type for me.

Wow - thanks for that. Sounds like we could do with both of them - Ash for the attitude and Young for the silk!

This year has really shown our deficiencies: firstly with smart leaders and secondly skills.

Young's kick is a thing of beauty. I'm torn between Young and Ash, but gee Young's kicking would make our transition sooo much better:

On that kick alone i am sold on Young. What a weapon!

As the Hawks showed during their premiership years, kicking skill conquers all.

Gil and co should be devising an exit strategy from the league for the Suns rather than attempts at propping them up at the expense of the rest of the competition. The place is clearly a basket case that not even Cochrane can get back on track.

How much longer will Dew last?

Lukoscious, Rankine, King last year and now picks 1 and 2 this year.

Jack Martin wants out - who else we don’t know about?

Just put it down, Gil - it’s about dead.

The integrity of the competition is at stake.

Let’s face facts, if we lose pick 2 (and Anderson) then it may as well be to a basket case like the Gold Coast.

They can’t retain players therefore they are zero threat going forward and a player like Anderson will likely end up back in Victoria within 3 years.

Our main aim is to cut the [censored], grow and become a club that players (like Anderson) want to come to for future success.

Whatever.

Q) What do Fyfe, T Kelly, Dangerfield, P Cripps, Bontempelli, Grundy, Gawn, Neale and Dusty Martin have in common?

A) Blokes that are dominating 2019 and are at the absolute top of their game, and none of them were top 2 picks.

The eventual best player of this draft won’t be picks 1 or 2.

Not every draft is the same, and this one most of the reviews have the top two as substantially better than anyone else up for grabs.  I do agree with you that they won't be the best in the league, but only because they are being sent to a joke of a club that will cripple their development.

Or Trengove & Martin

We need both pace and class. Between Young or Ash there is a player for us. Just a matter of selecting the right one. Gold Coast can have their priority pick. They are all but finished. They are struggling to hold any kid not born from Qld.

BOTH Wagner boys for pick 2? Or King?

Not remotely a fair deal, but they need players that want to be there. Help the talented kids they already have enjoy Qld. It’s not exactly a bad spot to be an overpaid footballer.

Josh Schache was the clear number 2 pick in 2015 who’s developed into a 1 goal a game key forward that spends time in the Footscray magoos each year.

Can Rowell and Anderson transfer their under 18’s dominance from U 18’s to AFL?

That makes very little sense.

An expression of frustration that wasn't meant to be taken literally when almost every post in this thread is a genuine complaint about the AFL [censored] the MFC over.

Right.

afl and gillon mclachlalan-ilovemyself-lan are absolute two faced liars.

Suns have about 13 1st round picks on their list and that was a reason why the Dees got no priority in 2014

Anderson and Rowell bromance is to keep them at the Suns. It’s not their doing but the world has gone mad !!!

im angry

The AFL is corrupt and makes up rules on the fly?

NO! Tell me it isn't so

I wouldn't rule out some back room deals involving our pick 3 and king. Some deal that gets him to saints and we get pick 2?

I would. How could that happen?

Can I give you my old microwave for your brand new 75 TV?

Same deal.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
