sadly i agree , think we be lucky to get within 60 points ... ย

i can never work out why we have to player interstate sides in NT ,ย its a advantage to them. I know re $$ but we need wins.ย

We play the interstate teams there because they're the teams we would get the lowest attendances to for home games in Melbourne.

You wouldn't play a Melbourne team there, when we would normally get at least 35,000 to that home game.

GWS maybe?

Expect to see a lot of McGovern on tv today.

My money is on him to break the record for intercept marks. His game is absolutely MADE for playing a team like us.

We need a miracle.

ย

Too much for something that approaches football.....and doesn't resemble manic dodgems ?

I do sense however the Eagles will control the ball, control the tempo and therefore the game.

We might fly out of the gate with delusional exuberance to the chorus of euphoric rapture but it never lasts long.

I'd be content today if we can just exhibit some intelligence with the ball......again....too much ?

Iโ€™m looking forward to the commentary on how Gilbert MacAdams Aunty or uncle kicked a goal in a local league gameย from beyond the tree in the outer wing which is about a 85m roost.

#dreamtime

We should have either Pruess orย Gawn stationed deep forward to bring it to ground all day . Our bigs and mids will do well . Hopefully we can manufacture enough goals . May will curb kennedy somthing we never have .

ย

we are a chance .ย

Wtf did you have for brekky?

Mushrooms on toast by the looks of it.

The curtain raiser is far more enjoyable than any other game Iโ€™ve watched this year.ย

ย

40pt loss I think today.

JK to break his form slump and kick 5.

Earlier in the season when hope still sprung eternal the Gameday Thread was always bullish and full of humour ( not all of it funny I'll admit) but now, like all else Demonish,ย  there's a surfeit of apathy and despair.

It now fails to lift the spirits of even a sad old flagellator such as myself .

Arrrh!!! โ€ฆ. The MFC has a lot to answer for.

After watching the mfc for many decades looking forward to every game with hope and anticapation,I find now there is little to enthuse aboutanymoreย  just another game of despair and disappointment.Think i will give one of the ex wives a call just to top my day off

Am expecting an 80 pt drubbing so hopefully we at least crack in and provide some interest for us dieย hardsย

So far a successful trip for the Dees to Alice, with the Casey VFLW team having a 65-point win over NT Thunder yesterday. Their biggest win of the season so far and well-deserved by the sounds of it.

Fingers crossed for an unlikely double!

Shannon Hurn a late out.

Said last night that i feel like it will be a close game then most people think.

scotch just kicked in go dees you good things

Agree and the Umpiring is great alsoย

Using common sense unknown in the AFL

Remember in recent seasons when we used to discuss which Melbourne team would turn up.

Hard to fathom that by comparison those were the good times.

I have no idea what to expect. But I fear Hurn and McGovern are just going to mark everything that comes down our forward line as we didn't have much depth or experience down there. Hopefully Rawlings has come up with a good game plan.ย

But having been to the ground it has the most beautiful background with the ranges there.ย

Just have a go today melbourneย

Hurn late out.

Debutant Franky Watson in. Quick rebounding indigenous half back. Eagles with 6 indigenous players out there today.

We are into $2.40 now for the win. Vs a flag fancy.ย

Either punters know something we don't, or there is still an element of trust and belief in this team from punters.ย

Nah just means Viney will kick it to McGovern instead.

Pressure is off Praha. We cannot make Finals, so we are a big chance to โ€œturn upโ€ today...

The first 10 minutes will tell a story

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFLโ€™s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.ย

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

Iโ€™ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we wonโ€™t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything youโ€™d like to ask or say below and weโ€™ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics youโ€™d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
