Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

A sharp skills session with no drill lasting longer than 5 minutes

All walking wounded not sighted and Spargo

So Neitschke, Lever, Lewis, May, JKH, AVB, Hannan and Walker

Crossy gave Jeff Garlett's shoulders a work out with a tackling drill, Jeff did whole session

Squad still upbeat, no cloud of doom over Goschs,   only bright sunshine

Yep its jeffy time.

Let's remember how he single handedly got us over the line round 2 last year when we were playing [censored] footy.

We need speed, crumbling ability & some x factor.

We are suffering from lack of speed fatigue that's for sure.  Spargo, Jeffy and Hannan all sorely missed in the forward half.

Would have to be one of the worst starts to a season injury wise but then again we've had plenty of em over the decades.

Your bringing problems with no solutions. Don’t be that guy.

Its dreadfully obvious We are desperate for a dynamic crumbing forward with a bit of spark. When jeffy is on, he’s up there with the best. Let’s see him, I’m ready.

Except he can’t kick straight and defenders would run off him at every opportunity. Max is not a forward full stop. Weideman and McDonald are our key forwards and both need to lift substantially

Nope, and that is one of our many problems. He could hardly get a kick in the VFL last year, and is now a year older. Way past it

And you know what?  You might be right, bobby.

But we could do worse than give him a crack.  We need a bit of spark down there and Jeffy is still capable of that.  At any rate he deserves the chance to show he's still got it.

And if he doesn't?  Well, then we know.

Yes, and if Garlett comes in I also want Lockhart to retain his spot.  That goal last week was great and he brings pressure.

You need more than one small forward,  just look at any recent grand finalists.

Don't think Jeffy is a VFL player, the stage is too small. Also, I think he's a victim of the coach's whims. In other words, ANB can get away with running like a hare and getting nowhere fast but that's ok, when someone like Garlett needs and deserves some smart midfield service which unfortunately doesn't seem to be part of the 'Game Plan'. What I know for sure is that Garlett will do more damage without half of the futile efforts of a plodder like ANB. It's the Eddie Betts principal.

I don't want this to sound like a put down of Goodwin, but Goodwin, like all coaches, has his likes and dislikes. If it weren't for Roos, Dunn would have finished his dedicated Demon career at Melbourne. In the same way that Dean Terlich's days were numbered when Roos arrived.

Once again, this is not a criticism of Roos, simply a fact of life that it's horses for coaches in this business, witness Sheedy and Kevin Walsh, Lyon and Dawson etc etc...

I noticed Spargo cop a knock on the jaw before half time but I thought it wasn't serious because he kept on playing. Another Gaff by the football department like J.Smith?

2 years is a long time with no spark, Jeff needs a new ignition button installed.

Hello Simon

It's that down to earth footy know it all Picket Fence here.

Now Simon, we don't have a crumbing forward at present who can kick goals! Come to think of it we don't seem to have many who can and are kicking goals at present. Can I humbly make a suggestion , just a small one??

TAKE THE BLOODY RISK AND GET JEFFY IN!!!

Thanks Simon, I always thought I had your ear!

Cheers

if you think he wont help then maybe you are seriously delusional. He is agood player.. right now we need good players.. he wont kick 8 and win it for us but he might be an important piece of the puzzle.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
