How about this addition?

Seriously with the last three premiers being dark to very darkย horses as well as Collingwoods appearance in the GF that wasย in no ones dreams, predictions for this season are a waste of time and a lottery at best.

When you look at how we're viewed overall, and not in isolation, I think it's a fair reflection of our capability and the expectation on us as a club.ย  With the list we have, and if we generally stay healthy, then we should be pushing for a flag.ย ย

The fact that Malthouse has left us out of the eight is further proof of our credentials.

Malthouse and Slobbo must drink together.

Just the same I'm sticking up for Robbo's big Call:

ย

Brendanย Gale to take over AFL

Can't happen too soon and he will be the best AFL leader since Sir Kenneth Luke.(yes I know that was VFL but the guy was a visionary).

Correct call, but history tells us most years 2 to 3 teams drop out and are replaced by new contenders and most of the serious pundits have adopted this approach.ย  Only Malthouse has the Dees as a dropout - a huge plus for the team IMO.

His opinion is meaningless - however I am curious to what his beef is re: Melbourne? .... or what credentials he fails to see...?

Mick Malthouse the only one to leave us out of the finals...ย  imagine being 80 years old and trying to be edgy.

Its true too, if take into account what he said to Milney when they almost started throwing hands several years back.

As long as Robert Walls doesnโ€™t tip us forย the flagย

Malthouse ... ? I though it was about who you actually think (as opposed to who you want) to win the flagย

I havenโ€™t seen us this highly rated since 2007!

That sentence just frightens the carp out of me.

I am amazed but also not at the consistent MFC for premiers but it really is blind following the following the blind in footy media. Think its a year too early for us to be the expected victor but we will certainly give it a shake. I reckon Malthouse forgot us or I would love to hear/see his justification as to how we go backwards after he thought we would play finals in 2018.

Heโ€™s entitled to his opinion, and he may be proved right. Only time will tell, as the cliche goes.

However, I have heard him describe the events of 19 September 1964, when he cried all the way back on the driveย to Ballarat from seeing his Magpies pipped by the MFC in the Granny. Could be a clue.ย

I like the sound of that: Ballarat was a much longer drive in them dark days as well.ย

Hype or notย I simply cannot remember a time in my 40 years of life that we have been spoken about like this.ย

Big Call: Mick Malthouse hates Melbourne and is horribly biasedย

actually wait, thats just plain obvious.ย

all aboard the dees train!

Nah Milney deserved to be honest.

Any Yeast found in his kit bag,ย  to roll into his doe ?ย ย ย  Somethin has to make it rise ?

Poor boy... should have been a swimmer,ย  instead.

Looks like his headed for the chop, soon enough,ย  IMV.

W.H.Face,ย  maybe one day he could get into Manpower Australia.ย  If he discovers the Gymnasium.

Despite the hype, Iโ€™d just love to see us hold our own (top 4) until Lever comes back in! To stop the sieve of our backbone last year, and then rocket forward! ?

Noticed in The Age article on Carlisle that Lever and May are both elite (Top 2 Lever, top 10-15 May) for intercept marks and intercept possessions.ย

Given Mays new and Lever has been injured for the second half of last year, itโ€™s a major injection of additional talent into our back 6 when both fit,ย in form and coordinating.ย

Surprised at the general absence of Sydney and Hawthorn.ย  I counted 7 who did not include either yet the same folk included North.ย  Goodness me!!ย

With all the woe befalling the Saints I wouldn't be surprised if they make a mad dash for the wooden spoon!.

Not suprised by Sydney and particular Hawthorn - they are stuffed.ย  I'm not thinking North have what it takes, but it's hard to work out who makes it instead:

1.Essendonย

2. Perhaps Port;

3. I'd like it if the Lyons had a crack.

ย

I don't like David King but I like his call about the new kick-in rule.

I have a sneakingย suspicion clubs will refrain from taking shots from angles or from too far out for fear of the damage the opposition will do from a kick-in.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

Itโ€™s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle โ€“ perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
