Footy Classified should be a Demons love fest tonight...    lets see if Judd has any humility and admits his comments about us celebrating too hard after the West Coast win were idiotic .

with mitchell and cripps having a quiet two rounds and Maxy having a great last two rounds, he might be a real challenger for the Brownlow. (Brownlow predictor has Dusty winning it again however i am not so sure)

He's paying  $12 for the brownlow.

Just dropped a lazy twenty on.

He should go close

Just taken the $41 for the Norm Smith.

To to my mind that’s much better value than the current $10 to win the flag. For us to win it, it would demand a big game from Max, so it’s almost the same bet with four times the payoff.

Also, he’s that dominant he could win the medal in a losing side; even better value.

Nice work.

I got on the Dees early on this year at $23 for the flag.

Just missed my wager for a top 4 finish but hopefully we'll both be laughing late September.

Maxies gut running at the end of the game this week must have been inspirational for his team mates.

He's really reaped the rewards for the work he's put in this year.

Best ruckman in a long time. His tap work is pure class, his around the ground skills are strong, and his gut running is rare. Not bad for a big, doe-eyed comedian. Well deserved, big fella.

If he can continue his current form for a few more years he will be mentioned in the same breath as Dempsey and Madden - the 2 best ruckmen to play, in my humble opinion.

I am not sure who believes in omens or signs but Max has played 96 games. Wouldn't it be fantastic if he plays his 100th game in the Grand Final

Go Dees

When he had his first AA year I think a few of us Dees fans were cautious, we’d seen Jamar go AA and then not really come close to those abilities again. I was confident of him coming back after his injuries last year well but I honestly didn’t expect him to be as good as he’s been this year. He’s gone to another level and he could be looked back on in the future as a “great” Rick man of our game.

Love ya Maxy!!!

Thoroughly deserved. Well done Maxy.

I have a sneaky feeling this is the first of a few awards to come this year...

A massive achievement.

Chris Scott on 360 said he’s probably the best player in the league. Hard to argue against. Definitely he’s the most influential.

Yes I was having kittens worrying he might do a hammy. I'd have put him on ice halfway through the third.

In all seriousness has there ever been one player more important to our chances of winning a flag?

Up there with Ricky pettard

It’s super special that he’s doing all this in the famous number 11 as well. When I see him wearing it, I always think of Jimmy presenting Max with his jumper and this photo, I think after Jimmy’s passing.

I'm not sure if it was the jumper but he was looking like that NAB kid version of himself on the weekend. Has he lost even more weight over the season, at the same time as extending his beard?

A few quick questions:

  1. How long has this award been around?
  2. Has a Melbourne player ever won it before? (If so, who?)
  3. If a Melbourne player has previously never won it, what is our previous best result?

Well done to big Max. Had a ripper season.

The fact that we had 3 players in the top 20 says a lot about how we are finally turning the tides.

Watching the game I thought the jumpers looked looser than our normal one. I thought Petracca looked skinnier as well but then noticed the jumper and put it down to that.

2. No

3. I could be wrong but I think Gawn in 2016 was our previous best.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
