Dom Tyson - 100 Games

Demon Jack

Recommended Posts

Considering Lewy's 300th game is likely to be a substantial talking point ahead of this weekend, I thought It'd be only right to acknowledge that his milestone will be shared by Dom Tyson, who'll notch up a century of AFL games (13 with GWS, 87 with Melbourne.)

Although it hasn't been an ideal season from Dom's perspective, I'd like to take the opportunity, regardless of what happens at seasons end, to say thanks to our number 12 for his contribution so far to the red and blue!

Here here. Hoping he stays on in 2019 as well. At his best he was one of the premier clearance players in the league and he is still very young (25) so should be entering his prime soon.

Best of luck to him this weekend in his 100th. It's a shame his form has been down this year and he's become the resident whipping boy. He's taken a while to get to 100 games due to ongoing knee issues, but he's played some brilliant footy for us. His 2014 was superb, and he was one vote of winning the BnF from Jones (who was at his peak). He's definitely got the potential to play a key role for us in the future. Hopefully he has a good game this weekend and contributes to an important win!

I really hope we're retain him next year.  He plays his best footy in the guts and has been squeezed out this year due to numbers.  Jones won't be here forever and Viney's foot may need insurance so the is a definite need for someone of his ilk.  It is a shame the majority of the players competing for that spot are unable to play other positions.

Congrats Dom.

It hasn't been Dom's best season however l believe he has plenty to offer and no doubt he will  be revved up for his 100th afl game. He is a damaging player with hands and foot when on top of his game and l hope things turn good for him. He deserves it.

Good Luck  on your 100th and give them Hell .

Was very, very good for us when Roosy was head coach.

Congrats and well done Dom on 100 AFL games. It is an achievement you can be proud of

Even though I have referred to him as Turnover Tyson, he can find the ball and if he can improve on his disposal and decision making, he still could be handy for us, especially with so many injuries these days.

Modern footy requires a large number of mids and he adds to our depth there. With Viney down he is virtually the next bloke in.

Congrats Dom, you are by far my favourite player and I hope to see you continue in the red and blue in 2019.

while you have not had the best year, i still think you are a great inside mid and it is says a lot about the depth of our list if you have not been able to get a game consistently.

I hope you get three Brownlow votes this week after a massive performance. Go Dees!

Congrats, Dom.  There are plenty of players who don't make the 100 game milestone, so he's done super well to get there and deserves the recognition.

He has a big chance in the coming weeks to help shape our destiny in terms of making the finals.  When in form, he can be terrific around the stoppages and it's something we will miss with Viney gone.  He can support Gus and Clarrie in there and allow us to keep up our good numbers in clearances and contested possessions.  I'm backing him to really give us something over the next month or so.

While all the talk has been Lewis 300th, I've been very disappointed that the MFC website has barely made any mention of Dom 100th. I don't care how this comes across, but i couldn't give two [censored] about Lewis 300th..

Been with us for 5 years and has been an important player for us over that development period. I truly still believe he can play an important role for us coming towards the back end of the year.

Congratulations Dom..

Helped make 2014 that little bit less horrid. Had some real blinders and probably won us the game vs Adelaide.

Agreed, his 2014 season was outstanding. Off memory he jagged 12 brownlow votes including 2 BOG's in losses to Port and North.

Fair to say that the 21 year old Tyson was a far better player than the current 25 year old Tyson.

might be just me but im starting to see him a bit more cleaner and accelerating out of packs better to dish off the ball. if he could find that form of 21014 geez we would have a great midfield.

I reckon he's a good player once he gets his confidence up and going, you can't have too many midfielders especially when injuries hit. The question is whether he wants to move on to be guaranteed more game time at a club without our huge depth of inside mids.

It is a long time ago now, but I still recall his surge of form in the final half-dozen rounds of 2014.

I've always had more patience with him than most, for no really good reason. But here's hoping his 100th game is the marker where he rediscovers that form, because half a dozen or so really good games would be much appreciated right now!

Agree with everything said here already. Great to see DL get around Dom for probably the first time this year, in year where he's struggled a bit with his match fitness/injuries as well as knowing his role in a changing midfield setup.

Proving to be very valuable for depth, especially so far tonight, and we can't have a enough inside midfielders I guess.

Hoping he can get as much out of the rest of this year as possible, and put in an uninterrupted preseason to build his fitness and hopefully modify his game. We'd be crazy to let him go while still contracted at this point for mine!

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol
