Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Hopefully after another pre-season Harrison Petty is ready to step in. However we could look to trade for one. I daresay Tyson could be used as trade bait, he could net us a second rounder to on trade for a KPD. Will be a fascinating off season

The type of back we need will not be had with a second round pick. You have to give something worth while if you want a good player.

No first rounder makes the going tough. Along with the fact that he FA list is thinning by the day, who would you target and at what cost?

Was thinking about how well Gus is going and then wanted to check how he was going against Trac. Trac's played 5 more games and their averages are scarily similar. Gus is having a much better year this year, but I kind of expected that to translate (including his first year when he was 5th in rising star) into better stats that Trac.

Sheesh we have some good young kids.

Angus is averaging 27 disposals this year and has improved out of sight, Petracca, well, his last few weeks have been much better after an average start to the year.

I am warming to Frost. He seems to be a lot more confident with ball in hand. Evidence was last week when he took mark and ran the line late in LQ.

There is a bit of upside in our defence. We are constantly thnking Gaff is our potential saviour. We have already got one in Fritsch and Salem who will do what Gaff can do and have a fair bit of improvement in them (positively).

Fritsch has been an absolute revelation and has taken to AFL very well. I just wonder where he fits on the chess board long term. I say this because I remember Roosy saying that Gus (playing on HFF) was not going to be playing there all his career , meaning he was just being blooded into the tempo. Maybe young "Sparky" is doing some prepping for a long term role

Except then his kick was terrible and he then didn't man up sufficiently on Hawkins to deny the easy mark at chf with 10 sec we to go, resulting in final goal. Frost is not the answer.

But well done Gus. Great signing. Will get better and better over the next 3-4 years

except we still don't have a chb

lever is not (imo) a kp defender

Is he a CHF?  potentially?  or a 3rd tall forward?  I think he could eventually play almost any position.

But one thing is for sure,,, we need to cover our bases Re his knees, just in case.

Why, don't feel dirty all the talk of trading this player or that player has had a very positive effect on at least 2 players.

Gawn continues to respond, (to talk of trading him) by extracting a digit, each time.   He spent his early years mostly coasting, as was done around our club fort decades.

Angus had issues re health and i'm sure that effected his play after those encounters.

But It appears that negative talk about his tenure at Melbourne, has him responding with much more desperation, and viola; his best form to date.

No I think any player with a hint of belief in themselves will respond to talk of trading out,,,  by going harder at the contest.  Those that don't,,, can, well, you know.

No, not alone... But it can surely jump some out of habits.

In Max's case, for sure.

Maxy didn't have a breakout game for years on the list,,, until one season we started talking about moving him on.   The next season he was a different player.

He didn't like the talk of him not being good enough, and that he should be sent packing, and he dropped being the court-jester thing, and got serious about his footy.

Angus also did not like the talk about him not being at Melbourne next year....  he came out firing not so many games back now, and we all see the results.

He was not picked early and the coach and selectors were losing faith as wll as some supporters,.... he has responded to the negative talk as you would hope he would.

ONe player last year, had the same treatment and did not respond they way you would hope, and he has gone-west young man.

Great news.

You should watch his presser on the club website if you haven’t already. The boy is an absolute ripper. Bleeds red and blue, confirms the core group of talent see themselves building the next Hawthorn like dynasty. Excluded Maxy from the group because he was too old at 26!

As positive a news story we could get in a week like this, I think.

OMac is the only player of note out of contract at the end of this year and only Hogan and Salem, I believe, at the end of next year. The rest of our best players are all signed up to the end of 2020 or beyond, which is excellent list management IMO.

What would Hogan get us on the Market do you think?

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
