Footy chat has been suggesting we have been heavily into Langdon for a while now. In with a shot at least. Got a bit of a Hibberd feel to it.

As the saying goes "You have got to be in it to win it"

3rd pick will add some much need dash to our midfield mix.

Lol no worries Picket..

No way Freo let Langdon go for third rounder. Heโ€™s worth a late first/early second round pick. Heโ€™ll be top 5 in their BnF two years running now and is only 23.

Need to play hardball with Freo for an out of contract player after what they did to us with Hogan if he nominates us. Certainly nothing involving a first rounder. Maybe even a fake 'pulling out of the race' or some such bs.ย

Free slab of beer to the first person to suggest the need to play #hardball in the chase to get Langdon - referencing Bell/Hogan etc.ย

send me your address and Iโ€™ll drop it off...

postscript: thatโ€™ll be you then @TheoX

The guyโ€™s a jet and weโ€™ve been โ€˜linkedโ€™ with him for a while. ย Heโ€™dย be worth a first round pick- donโ€™t know about a top five pick though...ย

Hahha. From what weโ€™ve seen the Dees are โ€œfairโ€. If they want him theyโ€™ll pay for him in trade value and $.

I don't think we are allowed to use our FIRST ROUNDER this year. It may have to be a future first.

Anyway we can ask Peter. [email protected]

We need to make up stuff like Peter Bell - like we won't do the deal becauseย Hoganย Langdon's asking for a seven year deal.

Nice one Pete!

We can. It's a rolling 4 year period. We just have to use a first rounder either this year or next year.

Does anyone know if the bloke is any good?ย  I've heard of him but have no idea if he can play or not.

Yeah, heโ€™s pretty good.ย

Hope he likes playing with his bro.

I did, until we didn't.

I remember when playing for the Manangatang Saints U13s, the Ouyen under 13s were a player short so they made my younger brother don the Ouyen (Demon colours) jumper. In an incredible piece of future thinking he went The Full Stratton on me niggling niggling. I put him in a headlock then we both got sent off to my mother's horror.

Our first rounder for their first rounder and Langdon?

Heโ€™s gonna be worth more than our second rounder unfortunatelyย

Seriously good player

Our second round pick (21 - 25)ย would go very close toย gettingย it done. He is not worth a pick under 20.ย

Good player but he is not Brad Hill.

I agree that's about his worth but I suspect that given his age and steady improvement the Dockers will demand at least a lateish first round pick 14-18. Which I'd be happy for the club to pay but we don't have a late first pick to give.

*I'm not advocating this deal*

But if I was Freo I would offer Langdon and their first pick (10-12) for Gus Brayshaw and our 2nd.

Are the Brayshaw brothers from WA?

I don't think he is actually any good. I have watched him closely since mid last year when rumours started about him coming to Melbourne. His skills are not flash. Decision making isnt either. What do others see that i dont?ย

I regard him as a good, regular player rather than a first-rounder or potential star.ย As a utility, I'd regard him slightly higher and useful.ย  His pace is interesting to me, though. It seems above average and he is a solid tackler, too.ย

Elite runner, great speed, sloppy disposer.ย

Not sure how he'll address our diabolical use going inside 50.ย

Exactly!

People on here complaining about how terrible our disposal has been this year. As you mentioned, thereโ€™s no doubting the boys pace & run... butย his guy would match some of our worst kicks in the team.

Born there, moved to Vic when quite young though.

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. Itโ€™s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this yearโ€™s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.ย  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.ย

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old sideโ€”the Tigersโ€”coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking?ย I mean by โ€œtheyโ€ the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around.Itโ€™s no secret that the Demonsโ€™ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack.ย Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryanโ€™s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winningย 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
