Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Salem and the Nic Nat tackle.

I am going to put it out there that Christian Salem tackles as hard, if not harder than Nic Nat, and will need to change his technique.

Should the club get on the front foot or wait for this to happen?

I hope the club get on the front foot here. Salem absolutely drills opposition players and he doesn't need to. Putting so much into a tackle affects his ability to get the ball himself.

I would hate to see him back off his tackling ferocity. FMD.

And what do you even mean by "Putting so much into a tackle affects his ability to get the ball himself."

Agree he drills them; I love it and don't think he needs to change.

Interesting that he so does; he is becoming a player that opposition players tend to get around if possible, taking them off a straighter line or needing to pass/handball to another to avoid his impact on their game. Possibly a very good thing as a barrier player; possibly a very brave thing, as well. With some care, he might get around the consequences of the latter quality but it is indicative of his excellent intent and endeavour as he is not the 'toughest' of players in the first place.

I'm glad you gave Salem credit, he is actually as hard at it as anyone, when you watch what he does he's ferocious. I think most clubs are shocked and will be assessing players within their clubs. I'm still a bit shocked personally that Nic Nat got a week.

Beyond the fact I don't quite understand what you're saying, I think the highlighted section is incorrect.
Watch closer.

It's not a Mardi Gras out there.

The game is meant to be tough.

Judging by your post, your avatar appears quite apt.

The problem with Nic Nat he lifts the player, every tackle they have shown him do this week it’s almost like a spear tackle,  I’m leaning towards the AFL Making the right call on this he could have broken someone’s neck

A tale of two Christians .

One a very good up and coming Demon

The other a very confused and illogical buffoon.

I thought the 1 against Sydney and Geelong looked much worse than the 1 he got suspended for, so to only suspend him for the outcome is wrong, I have done a complete 180 on this as at start of the week I thought he shouldn’t have gotten suspended, I think after watching examples of how he tackles has swayed me to think it’s the correct decision, was just sheer luck he didn’t hurt the other 2 guys

No his mass to force ratio is below Tribunal thresholds.

He'll be alright :)

When tackling, Nic Nat does not seek to restrain the player with the ball but to carry him forward with his momentum. Finishing the tackle several metres away should not be accepted as a fair tackle.  With one week off, he got a fair and deserved penalty.

A perfect tackling technique prevents the opponent from moving or disposing of the ball legally. Watch Clarrie.

NN should learn restraint and learn to restrain the opponent, not propel him.

Brody Grundy got done last year for the exact same thing. Difference was Grundy actually got the free kick from the umpire, then got suspended. Now that was a joke. It's almost as farcical as the rules in cricket, being able to be out and not out on the same delivery. Now that really annoys me.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
