No excuses for this game. Saints will come out fired up after all the negative press, good sides absorb the pressure early then grind over the top (see Richmond).

On paper, the talent discrepancy is enormous, but if we let Saints jump us, or fall asleep for our trademark quarter, it's not going to be comfortable.

Saints are missing some of their best players in Bruce, Roberton and Acres but play Etihad better than most. Won't be a pretty game, but our talent should rise.

Wife wants a quiet one this afternoon so I am being forcefully removed from the TV and told to go and watch it live, so I guess that's whats happening.

Im scared to think which Melbourne will show up. If we go in cocky, we will most likely pay dearly for it.

Saints have to find some form at some point. At home against us - they have a bloody good track record. It's a 50/50 toss for me.

C'mon MFC. Lets get this season back on track with a win.

Wheeling pram in for juniors first game. Wee Dee will be struggling to see above 'n below roll-bar & expecting big things (& hoping Viney raises the mug before his old man pops his clogs).

I work just down the road from Etihad and getting a couple of hours in before the game starts.

As at 10.30am, the roof was open.  Hopefully they close it.

Does anyone on here read papers unless they (papers) are free and they have a spare minute. Not likely.

Does anyone believe the "sage" advice from the Media. Not likely.

We are now that well informed to just say its rubbish and a waste of time. Likely.

The Media are ill informed, bias and paid to favour. Thanks Rupert.... now what's this thread about?

?Give ourselves a buffer for the inevitable fade ?

For whatever reason I’ve watched a lot of Bulldogs games this year. The commentators at some point will reference their drop off since winning the flag. I know we joke it about but we can’t even put in a 4 qtr effort let alone string 3-4 consecutive games togethers of quality football.

The Saints have had a week of 'soul searching' and 'home truths' so I'd expect them to come out hard.  Withstand their early flurry, get the game on our terms, and then let our superior talent dictate terms.

So U r saying dees will lose!!!!

I just hope Jones plays with the same aggressive attitude that he had last week because imo he played one of his best games last week.

Need to do it consistently though.

My question to the FD is what steps would be taken today to counteract, the quick ball over the high press, that the saints in particular seem so good at achieving against the dees at Etihad over the last 2 years (irrespective of our wins).

Saints did it for us = No Riewoldt.

Seriously Riewoldt was the master at playing between the zones.

Should be a good win today.

It’s always funny when crap teams play us we always fear they will come good, but objectively we know the saints are absolute [censored]. With that said I’m very nervous and I hope we scrape home in a very ugly thriller ?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
