Gee, four of the best 6 for Casey last week, were sitting in the stands this week

Joel Smith was a late withdrawal

Two players down on rotations

AFL listed players with senior experience stood up for Richmond in the last quarter

Casey lost to the better side on the day

Saty

in fairness I don't think you will see much if any complaint about Casey's overall performance on this thread. There was a comment on the game plan by one or two that is a different matter.

Just very few positives unfortunately and those that were there have been mentioned by several posters.

With a short turnaround from the Richmond game to the Essendon game I would think making sure we have a large fit squad is part of the clubs plan hence so many not playing at Casey today.

U at the game ? He has booted 4 and marked everything come his way. Had goal assists too. Stupid comment

Yeh.

But you you called out a single piece of play. Which was undone by an awful kick and then followed on by saying Weideman better perform in the senior side.

So to that point of the game, it was a strange comment.

Not if hes (JH) further up the ground..that would leave the gate open.

That is true BZ but with Tyson back I think the Hogan roaming way up the ground play  (as high and as often) is unecessary and weakens our spine/structure and ability to impact the scoreboard.  And I still think Rance would probably go to him. Which means Rance is intercepting and starting his runs higher up the field as you have said, in more dangerous parts of the ground.

With Tyson, Clarry, Jones, Tracc and Brayshaw in (and later Viney) I would have Hogan playing and impacting the game and the scoreboard in a more traditional CHF role and reduce his time higher.  Some would say drag Rance up the field or out wide (out wide you also lose Hogan's ability to impact).  How about we take him head on with our best forward and keep him deeper in the forward line but clear the forward 50 out as much as possible and let Jeffy / Fritsh go to work off the crumbs from Hogan and Weids/Pedders?

Looks like it was a very disappointing day with Pedersen the only one to fire a shot. Really disappointed with Hannan I had high hopes for him but he seems to have stagnated. Disappointed with King also after showing some promising form against Werribee.

We traditionally never go well with so few Melbourne players. Casey only bat 6 deep and one of them is out in Hutchins so that is 5 players who aren't up to VFL standard and add Johnstone who is struggling that's 6 not gonna win too many games with that lack of talent. Casey need to recruit more depth. We dropped to 4th on the ladder after that loss, we get the chance to rebound against Geelong next week and I'm sure we will. Go the mighty Dees.

WERRIDEE if we've got so many MFC listed players, why do we struggle ?

We lost today's game because we got slaughtered n the ruck. Why we gave away Spencer for King and flip I will never know. They cannot cut it at VFL no  hope at senior level. tigers had 90% of first use. We were always trying to recover.

We cut spencer for the same reason no club picked him up for free. Can't get on the park for more than a few games in a row

Come on Drunkin have a dip

Well yesterday we only had 11 MFC listed players vs 17 for Richmond (I think) but still we were soundly beaten around the contest after quarter time that allowed the other areas to fall down

Did Petty play?

How has he gone throughout the season so far?

Petty has been pretty good, I really liked his round 1 game, but like Keilty yesterday it wasn’t his best game. Took 1 or 2 nice defensive marks but was otherwise beaten, especially in the last quarter he was out positioned and out marked a few times.

That stat explains the score line.

Our injury list has probably been what a normal AFL club would expect while the Tigers continue to enjoy a blessed run. Think Hardwick may have sold his soul early last season to the injury gods.

I had been commenting all afternoon on the form of Pederson. I don't really think you know what you are talking about...the bloke had kicked four goals when he took that lovely mark. So keep grasping at straws. you don't know what you are on about.

Here's the Tigers injury list ...

Player Injury Scheduled return
Daniel Rioli Foot TBC
Jack Graham  Suspension 1 week

It certainly helps when you’re blessed on that front.

Rioli suffered his injury with 3 seconds to go in the GF and Tigers fans think that’s bad luck.

Considering how many seconds are in a Grand Final, and for Rioli to get injured in the last 3 seconds. I would have to agree with Tiger fans. I must admit I didn't notice him getting injured at the time so perhaps I'd already switched it off. Can't stand Richmond. Hopefully Rioli gets back out there though because he is a tremendous talent.

3 seconds is an exaggeration, maybe 5-10 mins to go, point is the game was well and truly over.

Now, I’m not downplaying the injury as it’s obviously a serious one, yes it is unlucky but we lost players during games from injury very early in games last year and it cost us.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
