Frost will give him the chop out.  He's done it before.

I hope Frosty has bumped up his endurance. It' hasn't been his strong suit.

Admittedly I've had a few and am writing this in a cab on the way home.

I've watched the game quarter by quarter throughout this week on the way to work. Salem was not anywhere near as bad as people are suggesting. Often very clean and effective, there was not way he was getting dropped.

Wagner did a lot right as well. If you were looking at it objectively, out of the back 6, hunt was definitely the one to make way.

Yeah I was very critical of Wagner's selection in r1 but since halftime against the Cats he hasn't done a lot wrong.

Salem has been fine, needs to get more of the footy but hasn't been playing badly.

We also had a 6 day break and then played in humid conditions. Maybe some didn't pull up as well as others?

Pedo would be dirty not playing against his old side but he has missed a lot of grabs that he would have taken last year. As for Hunt there is some talk of a lingering back issue....

Pedders has been very poor in the relief ruck role this year, a liability and has cost us when Max is off the ground...not a patch on last year and his forward work has been average so not surprising to see him out.

Brisbane's resurgence coincided with Pedersen in the ruck last week.

I don’t get why kent has been picked. To replace pedo you would have to go for the weed, not that he is really ready. Frost I understand but he ain’t no forward. Maybe I am old fashioned but you need adecent tallish marker at CHF not somebody like Fritch. I don’t mind Kents ability but he is in the Watts school of pressure players. Don’t get the changes.

I don’t mind the in’s. Kent can be dangerous and looks fitter this year. Also knows he’s playing for his career so deserves a look for a few weeks to see if he will get an extension.

Frost and Omac to man the talls, Jetta the small and we get rebound from Hibberd, Lever and Lewis - along with run from Frost. So his inclusion is fine.

The outs however I can’t have.

Hunt had a mare last week but has runs on the board from last year. Can play forward (dangerous when tried last year), mid and back. Has X factor and we all love his pace.

Pedo just plays a role. Not great but he competes. We have the worst plan going forward where we bomb it long all the time. We need another tall down there unless we finally lower our eyes.

If we bomb it long to Hogan one on three all weekend and watch them easily rebound it out from uncontested intercept marks I’ll spew.

Keep it simple Goody, you cost us finals last year playing Weid early on whilst Pedo killed it in the twos and you have already cost us 4pts round 1 not playing Tyson over Maynard.

With these two ins it has to be Wags and Bugg out

We actually lowered our eyes and hit targets a few times last week for the first time in a while.  Unfortunately it didn't last much beyond the first quarter.

Hopefully we can build slowly to 2 or 3 quarters at some point!

Hunt has been poor in both JLT games and the first 2 games of the season.  It isn’t just 1 match.

I am a Hunt fan and he will go back and build confidence in the Magoos.

I'm struggling with Kent for Pedders also.  Big men always have up and down weeks.  He provides structure at CHF, brings ball to ground, can kick straight IF he gets a shot at goal and can also play relief ruck.

Kent will need to provide signifant value to justify the replacement.  Bugg needs a pretty big game also after last week.  Another game with a few score involvements and tackles surely isn't enough to have a stay of execution.  Not sure why Goody continues to persist with him up forward either.  Certainly done enough to convince me he isn't a forward.

I’m happy with the changes.

We’ve lacked speed, especially forward of the ball. Kent is exactly the type of player we need more of, because our weakness is outside the contest. Hunt’s poor form has hurt us a lot in this area.

Pederson has been poor. Also, how many goals have we got from slow plays? We’ve got Hogan kicking goals, mainly from quick plays, but we’ve been relatively ineffective in the areas where you would expect Pederson to be a help in. We have really missed TMac in the first few weeks, especially since Pedo has been so ineffective.

Frost was apparently excellent last week, but he also allows us to structure more similarly to Adelaide last year, with two key talls plus Lever as the interceptor. The way North play, that structure seems more logical plus it allows Lever to use his strengths more. It also shields us somewhat from Lewis’ lack of pace down there, where Lever can structurally cover the potential holes.

Reading some of your comments on here I might as well not go and watch the game this weekend, as we have already lost!!!!

so many negative comments.

people asking about brayshaw, his biggest issue is his speed, so I would suggest he is up against vince/ lewis/ Tyson/ jones and Wagner for a spot. I rate him, but he will have to wait until they deem someone worthy of being dropped.

frost will follow brown into the ruck.

our forward line will be fine if we deliver it properly and lower the eyes. Gawn will spend more time forward too.

for all the negative comments, if we play our brand of footy, of being hard and pressurising north, and then using the ball well going forward, we will smash them, I don't care who we brought in or left out.

Finally, for all those saying comments about Goodwin's selections and doubting him, it is a selection panel, not just him!! They make a GROUP decision, anyone involved in coaching a senior AFL side if any standard knows it is done as a group.

I'm assuming Frost will sit on Brown and they'll both relief ruck when Gawn and Goldstein rest. Frost will otherwise just follow Brown everywhere. He's fit enough and should be strong enough. Ideally he also provides some of the run off half-back we've been missing.

Hunt makes way for Frost because he's woefully out of form. We don't need to see any more from Hunt to know he's not close to his best. If he's injured he shouldn't be playing. If he's not injured then this is the wake up call he needs, get back to Casey and get back into form doing what he does best.

Pedersen's adding nothing to the side, so I'm not surprised he was dropped, and it makes double sense if we're planning on having Frost shadow Brown all day (as that means Pedersen doesn't need to relief ruck). But I'm not sure about Kent coming back. Goodwin's comment about VFL form is ridiculous, the VFL hasn't started yet and our practice match last weekend was against a non-competitive basket case. Hannan might consider himself unlucky, but I suppose Kent on paper offers more pace.

What I find a bit confusing about the selections is Goody's comments.

Coach Simon Goodwin said Frost and Kent’s recent efforts for Casey couldn’t be ignored.

“They’ve been in unbelievable form at VFL level and they’ve been knocking down the door for a few weeks now,”

I didn't think the VFL had even started, and that all we've done is play some practise matches haven't we? I thought our first actual match is this weekend against Coburg??

Didn't think we'd have any changes, and honestly am not fussed with who is in and out, but the comments to justify the inclusions .... just sounds like a guy spouting 'footy cliches'

Jesus, where the hell have you been?   His coaching course,/leadership manual speak is all he is capable of.  In front of a camera he is terrified.

I'm all over him.

I'm watching him like a [censored] meerkat.

The coach has the final say...it's not a democracy, it's his decision.

Nobody votes & if they did only his would count and that's fair enough.

In the end it's his job on the line.

Not having a go, but the negative comments are at least about selections and footy. One thing i've noticed about this forum is that theres a bunch of users who complain about the negativity each week, missing the irony that thats a form of negativity also!

Frost for Pedersen, hard to see Frost forward, can provide Ruck backup to Max. Maybe Frost will play back and they play Petracca at FF or CHF!

Then Kent for Hunt (who is out of form, but dropped ahead of the headless chook Wagner) I  would  have given Hunt one more week & dropped Wagner!

Hopefully Kent brings his form from last week, but it was against a VFL scratch team! What about Brayshaw, maybe his attitude in the practice game went against him!

I get Frost, not so much Kent, but surprised on the outs!

Headless chook = Wagner 100% agree

I am also confused as to why Kent has been picked over Brayshaw.  He might be the most 'one-sided' kicker in the squad. If he hasn't spent the last two years learning how to kick with his right foot, we might as well keep him on the bench all day or use him to relieve Max in the ruck!  Defenders might have learnt that all that needs to be done with Kent is to make him use his right foot and the ball is almost bound to be turned over.  Brayshaw has at least demonstrated on multiple occasions that he is comfortable kicking off of either foot and can play in the mids or back and can also kick a goal.

Not groundbreaking stuff but had a better game statistically and provides that forward pressure that is essential. Also did the job shutting down Hodge apparently and did a good job if that's the case. This also doesn't take into some of the other advanced stats like pressure acts etc

Both these are spot on, it feels like too many people are just looking at names to decide on who they would like in or out, rather than objectively looking at how each player performed.

I'd just like to add Goodwin has shown a clear preference for players who get the tackle, spoil or perform the pressure act over the player who is more skilled with ball in hand. This might hurt us slightly in the short term but if every player knows they need to bring that in order to get a game regardless of other talents we will be a much better team for it. That is how you built a culture that stands up when it matters and why teams like the swans are always in the mix year in year out while other teams cycle in and out contention.

Glad to see Kent back.   He can be a real weapon for us if he takes his chances.

Most of us wanted Frost in to release Lever to his natural role but will Frost play forward now that Pedders is out?  Or are we going to play with only Jesse as a tall forward?   Confused.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
