THE YOUNGER BROTHER

In his third season at the club, the tall defender's career began to take some serious steps in the right direction. He has the mobility needed for the role but has to work on building up his strength and working on his decision making.

I think he's developing very nicely, compared to the likes of brother Tom & James Frawley at the same stage of their careers. Clearly he has to get stronger so he can take on the big forwards, but that will happen with continued work.

It amazes me that so many people cannot see any positives with Oscar, but will defend Weideman to the death in the same breath.

Surprised to see that he played 30 MFC games in 2017. Surely that must be some kind of record? ?

i, for one, am a fan

he's a classic unfashionable defender where at the start of his career you're not sure what his skill level is actually like, you have no idea what he's going to do with the ball in hand, or where the next turnover is coming from...and then by the end of last season i was more or less comfortable with him as our best tall defender

now, in saying that, he's no star and it's completely understandable why lever has been targeted

BUT, at the same time, he is calm with the ball in hand now, makes sensible decisions, and for the most part doesn't make you panic like mad anymore

he is tracking remarkably consistently with his brother, who was playing in a significantly poorer side at the same age

i'm confident he'll be vital to our defence for the future

I'm a big fan and for someone his age, size and level of experience, I would have thought we'd all be super excited to have him on the list.  He is a polarising figure and it honestly feels like some people are watching a different match to the one in front of me.  I'm excited - O'Mac's developing into a very good KPD,

Deer in the headlights with poor intensity, strength, decision making and one on one capability. Improved this year but a long way to go.

Has plenty of upside considering he will be only 22. Has to improve his kicking skills like his brother did eventually.

Capable of being one of the best backmen in the league in 2 to 3 years time. Decision making might be a problem though but can work through that.

I agree (cautiously).

He is tracking very well for his age. If he continues to improve at the rate he is - he will be a very good role player.

Especially if he can be a gorilla tamer. Lever to help from a third tall position.

Frost to provide run (if he can beat his bloke as his first job) so Oscar is just directing traffic and not much more.

PS. He is going to find life a lot tougher with Watts going, he will immediately be the ire of fans of the resident whipping boy. Come next week, the eye of sauron will be fixed on Oscar.

I found as the year went on I found myself yelling "Jeezus Oscar" less and less, the improvement was noticeable.

Yeh.

I guess Tom actually hitting an opposition player on the chest as opposed to missing his intended target from a kickout is an improvement hey..

If he can just get his turning circle down from that of an oil tanker to (say) a cruise ship, he might be OK.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
