I know... Who's Goody to be suggesting anything really.

Still . Just like you and i he has an opinion.

Hands up all those who've coached to a final ? Not me...not him lol

He's played in finals though!

Surprised no-one has taken a reading between the lines. Not criticising Goody for opining openly, but it's a bit out of character for him to speak out of school where it concerns another coach's decision-making. Smacks of the Roos' playbook - sending a message through the airwaves that Daniel would be supported at the MFC (a la Melksham). I now firmly believe he may be a target; fits our game-style, would cost basically our Spencer compo, and a reasonable upgrade on a few of our forward-halfs as to finishing-skills. Happy for it to happen.

I have a degree in literature but was just reading Conan-Doyle for the very first time in my life today. It has to be a sign, old Watson. Or a 'sign of four' (including Lever, Kelly and Motlop). ;)

Articulate as always puntkick. But judging by your post I'm not sure if you're infuriated by a man named Dan or a toy called Troy?

As said, it's my first time reading Doyle, but based on my supreme powers of deduction, I can best presume that beware of the 'damned waterfall' can only refer to this  . . .Eagles star shows he’s fit and raring to go on Saturday

I always think 1man teams like Geelong don't win flags, they can win without selwood but not Dangerfield not in finals, I hope they put everything in the abblet basket and lose more depth like menzel, how long can Dangerfield keep his form you can't play that outstanding for too long.

So I assume that theory applies to people on here writing letters and giving feedback to our club?

Those people I suspect know how to perform at their job and be consistent in their output. MFC is not

Goodwin may want to have a look at himself, not Munzel.

I was initially suspect on Goodwin doing regular media during the finals but I've since come round to the idea that senior coaches need media exposure because there's going to be a time when things get rocky and having some public support doesn't hurt and getting his brand out does help with recruiting players. Plus he's going to watch the finals and analyse them closely anyway so that's a good thing.

As for Menzel, I wouldn't say no to him but our forward pressure is bad how it is, we don't need another forward who doesn't chase or tackle unless we are playing to move others on.

Goodwin has played in and captained an AFL grand final winning side. May know something about the game.

We should also go after Menzel in the off season and trade Watts for him.

Menzel is an unrestricted free agent.

Arguably, the two coaches in the league under the most pressure in their job are Chris Scott and Leon Cameron, who would both have astronomical winning pwrcentages.

I think Nathan Buckley would have something to say about that. Even Ross Lyon if Freo have a crap 2018.

Buckley just re-signed but I agree with Lyon- he's in strife.

I'm surprised people aren't talking this up as a sign that we are going to trade Watts to Geelong in a direct swap for Menzel.

Ah, was a little late on that call. Oh Demonland... good ol' Demonland.

But we all know that AFL coaching contracts are not worth the paper they are printed on.   If Buckley continues to underperform he will go, contract or not.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
