Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Posters who tell me 'X hasn't done anything for X amount of years' are not allowed to critique the terrible development standards we have had since time immemorial, the Bailey 'no defence needed' years, or the Neeld 'let's not go there' years.

Stay with some relevance, we began again as a club in 2014.

You still have to deal with the legacy though. Using Watts as an example, the club very well may have (let's face it we did) let him down in his development. Individual personalities contribute but they're not 100% to blame in this case.

However that doesn't change the fact of where we are at now. Whether the club was at fault for failing to develop him properly is irrelevant to the player he is and where we are at now as a club. We're not gonna keep him around on the basis of feeling sorry for him because we helped ruin his career.

Everyone is having a crack at Goody etc Roos said based on talent & not knowing what's happening with Watts behind the scenes etc he wouldn't trade him.. I guess if we got Lever from this trade are we complaining? Plenty of examples of clubs trading early picks to improve their lists!

I would think Jack is gone. I say that as now it will be driven by his manager and Jack himself. Though his heart may be MELBOURNE its as though his gf just dumped him. The trust/bond is broken. Time to start over. He still has 5-6 years of footy ahead barring calamatous injury.

Will be an early trade in the Circus.

Be very surprised now if not the case.

Goodwin just confirmed he's gone.

"We're happy for him to stay at Melbourne but we're also really comfortable for Jack to explore some options."

Just watched the interview and I agree with Port showing interest. Interesting what his trade value would be.

Goodwin just interviewed on pre-game coverage for the Grand Final on change 7. He was quite open when asked about trades.

When asked about Watts, said the club was happy for Jack to explore his options but was welcome back at the club if he didn't find what he was looking for. They then mentioned Watts was in Port Adelaide seeing their facilities and having some meetings and what he thought of that. Goodwin said he was happy for Jack to explore his options, as he's had 9 years at MFC and a lot of pressure to deal with. Said a different environment may be good for him.

Based off that interview, Watts is gone. 100% gone if the club get a decent offer.

But the offer may not be good enough.

It's a long way from fruity board short Brighton to toothless, ugly Alberton.

I still think there is a chance jw stays.

I'd say there has been some.honest feedback from the club and Jack. No harm in seeing what's out there.

It will hopefully fire him up of he stays.... but i also hope interest from other clubs is strong  (in case he does leave) to get some value

None of those quite frankly though capable of goals are in the same league as JW in terms of accuracy  and clutch kicking.

The distance is not a problem for Bernie or Milkshake but no money on them front a set shot after the siren!!

All things aside. Watts is our best kick

So is this a case of Watts approaching the FD and asking if he could do some window shopping?

My thoughts exactly, it was an attempt at humour.

Most of us here like the spin " Jack to explore some options."

Worst case scenario is that the club has to pay a percentage of Jack's salary for the next 2 years and we get back a draft pick (or picks) that doesn't satisfy the clubs needs.   Also, if that offer comes from a club that Jack wishes to go to and he gets the clubs blessing from the club to go to that club,  the bidding war may become obsolete.

Best case scenario is that Jack isn't too fussed where he ends up and there is a bidding war.  However, because we're effectively shopping him about,  the other clubs may not feel compelled to offer much.

As is often the case, some sort of middle ground might be found ... also, we may need more currency in order to secure Lever and/or Gaff.  Just 1 more 2nd round pick might be needed to secure either or both players and Watts may well be the conduit for that to happen.

Any of our other players who may have decent trade value could/would be regarded as 'keepers' ... or perhaps not.  We might get a decent offer from left field for 1 or 2 of those keepers - you just never know.  Back when we were a non-competitive outfit,  we had no such luxury.

Never been close to a bnf in 9 years, let alone all Australian. Not in the leadership group. Rocks up in poor shape for pre-season training. Has been dropped to Casey by both Roos and Goodwin. Really poor comeback after his hamstring, especially in terms of intensity. A known party boy.

Cant understand the criticism of Goodwin, McCartney and Jones for being sick of him. I only hope we get a decent trade.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
