Pretty ridiculous that Oliver didn't even make the squad of 40. Statistically he's been the best second year player ever, and rates in the top 10 of the AFL for lots of important midfielder stats. Very stiff to miss out.

Jeffy is lucky as he was good early, but then missed a few games and was rubbish in the later stages of the year.

Hibberd and Jetta both had great years and are worthy selections.

That is absolutely absurd.

Averaging 30 touches a game, was the main engine room... Was in most impartial media's 22 at the halfway point, and didn't slow down as the season progressed.

I'm blown away.

And Walker and Jonas got in. Unbelievable.

Imho. Should be Oliver as a cert. Either or both of Pig and Nifty.

Jeffy. Sorry not his best year by far. Possibly had cause but AA is about what you DID.

How Bontempelli is in there over Oliver & Cotchin is a disgrace... He's year has been average just shows you they pick names sometimes

I guess tweeting a former Australian cricketer is not an Australian thing to do.

The usual way this goes with AA and Brownlow is you have a break out year and next if you follow up with a similar performance everyone notices you and you get votes. If Clarry continues to work hard there is so upside in him (and kick the ball more). His time will come

Oliver is recognised in the article as 'unlucky to miss' - check the table at the bottom and it will show that after 9,000 votes he is the most unlucky.

It should be noted the AFL does not necessarily choose on merit - often it is past reputation.  How else do you explain Bontempelli, Selwood.  Or or encouragement to teams eg Ross, Docherty,

More telling for me is that none of our leaders are even close.
