Yeah and he talks to bikies....imagine if they turned up to a game!!

I think that is exactly the attitude the MFC took back in 2009 when they failed to even interview Dusty who was a widely regarded top 5 pick. At the time I thought he would be a good option as we had picks 1 and 2. Take Scully at one as the outstanding endurance athlete of the draft and although Trengove looked good I wanted Dusty for that mongrel element the list needed. Scully and Trengrove were always the vanilla, nice boys option for my thinking. But yes Dusty would have struggled to fit in at MFC but he also had problems at the Tigers and shopped himself around only 2 or 3 years ago with no takers believe it or not! What a transformation. Maybe an omen for Jack Watts if we can't do a trade and he ends up back at home? However I suspect we will take any offer and there will be suiters because he has a much less threatening demeanour.

The club has someone else in their sights big time. Not Lever, that deal is done. I'll let you know if I can find out more

The Dees might have there 2018 first round pick on the trade table if this is the case.

2018 is meant o be a good draft, but i'm becoming tired of perpetually bringing in kids. I want us to commit to having a crack for a flag and trade/draft for the now, we've got plenty of young talent, time to commit to the now.

Could Nick Robertson be what is possibly required around the middle

The Lions defender?

Huge fan, but not sure if we need him in the midfield.

Think he's a bit like Viney with the "overlap finger bender" against the "don't argue"

When an oppo player you are mauling (GWS Toby Greene) shakes your hand mid game after a ripping physical contest, you know you are making the most of whatever talent you have.

He should stay exactly where he is, for no other reason than he is the most likeable hard arz in the league.

I hope it's one of the young Essendon mids. McGrath, Parish, Merrett (yes, I know he's captain). I can't imagine they'd put any of them on the table, but if they did and we somehow gathered enough currency to pay them (without jeopardising our list), these guys would be perfect with their outside speed and ball use and in the perfect age demographic.

Yes to Isaac Smith. Would be a huge get.

I agree he is exactly the type of player we need. Fast, experienced, confident. Reasonable finisher despite some infamous hiccups.

He is 29, so I think he's in the odd spot where he's not like S. Mitchell, Lewis or Hodge because he genuinely has 3+ years to give the Hawks before he's stifling someone else's development.

But would Melbourne give up 27 (if they still have it) for him? And I can't see Hawthorn turfing him for a nothingish pick in the 40s.

I suspect the biggish fish will be an Isaac Smith type player coming towards the end but with a few seasons left, and it would effectively be Watts out, biggish fish in making the draft pick/s exchanged almost irrelevant.

I can't see what currency Melbourne would have to get this done with the Lever deal needing to be sorted unless Watts or someone of a similar calibre goes.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
