Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Round 23

Clubs do plenty of 6 day breaks through the year, I'm not overly concerned about this one. We have 8, 7, & 7 before that so it shouldn't be an issue for conditioning.

I just wish (selfishly) that it was a night (or at least a twilight) game so it would be easier for me to watch. It's going to be starting at 4:40am for me!

So we're the only top 8 team given a 6 day break between rounds 22 and 23. What a [censored] surprise. 7 day break for Collingwood.

Essendon given 8 days to recover between matches against Gold Coast and Fremantle. What a staggering coincidence.

Only other teams to get 6 day breaks are Brisbane, North Melbourne, Hawthorn and Bulldogs, all playing against each other to keep it fair. Of the teams also vying for a spot:

Sydney - 8 days

West Coast - 8 days

Essendon - 8 days

You'd think a logical person would've scheduled West Coast v Adelaide on Saturday, considering they have an 8 day v 9 day break, rather than allowing 6 v 7 for a team on the cusp. Self inflicted, sure, but the AFL never do us any favours. Once again treated like pushovers by the AFL.

what do you friggen know Sydney "golden child" swans 8 day break f me there last two months have been littered with 7 and 8 day break a massive F U too the AFL disgraceful.

Yep, thought the grand finalists were meant to get difficult draws? Since the bye they've had luxurious breaks between games: 9, 6, 7, 7, 8, 7, 7, 6, 7, 7, 8, 6, 8.

Compared to us: 6, 6, 6, 9, 6, 7, 7, 7, 8, 7, 6.

Makes sense.

Coming of a 6 day break is no big deal imo as we the last 3 wt the G. I would rather have this than coming off 7 days after an interstate trip from Brisbane in this case.

Sounded great until I heard it's yet another 6 day break!

Meh fk it, we own our own destiny. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we get to rnd 23 and have to beat the Pies to make the finals but have been hit with injuries again and lose by a point... MFCSS.

The problem could be the wet coke Adelaide game. If Adelaide are assured of a top 2 finish then they wouldn't give a stuff what happens against wet coke. We have to win our next 3.

Adelaide's draw against Collingwood might be the ultimate blessing in disguise. With one result it knocked the Pies out of finals contention (can only reach 11.5 wins) AND it stopped Adelaide from moving a game clear plus superior percentage of rivals. So basically it was a win but it's nullified their high percentage from having relevance.

With luck they'll be playing for top 1/2 in Round 23 and won't have the luxury of a loss. Adelaide winning games from here on is bad for us.

If positions in the top 4/5 remain tight, it prevents them from being non-competitive in round 23. The more losses Essendon / St Kilda / Hawthorn / Bulldogs / Sydney have, the better. It could be the difference between making finals on 12 wins or missing out.

I get what you are saying, but we don't travel outside of the G for the last 3 weeks of the season, so it's hard to complain, plus we have 8 days off after GWS and 7 days off the following 2 games.

Personally I'm happy with the fixture for round 23.

What I don't understand is why Round 23 is a floating fixture still, when we have the week off before finals anyway?

Don't understand this either, seems a bit archaic. Maybe to maximize the drama until the last match of the year, in case the top 8 is wide open?

Could be the case if West Coast can knock us out of the 8 by defeating Adelaide.

What a cynic, suggesting that the AFL could possibly ever be dictated to by an outside influence, in this case the TV broadcasters.  Scurrilous suggestion.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
