Harmes has let us down a lot with his set shots. That goal would have changed the dynamic completely.

Vandenberg is a key out. The link role which he performs admirably is the most difficult to play. His absence means we've had to use ANB in this role with mixed success and Petracca, who performs well but would be more damaging on the ball or one out in the square.

He's an absolute ripper, no razzamatazz about his game and that's why he's not talked about much in the media. His body work is phenomenal against any size, spoils and gets the ball out. Love him!

This was the most excited I have been for a game since, I think, the 2006 elimination final.

As a consequence, this might be the flattest I've felt after a game in years.

The six-day breaks cannot be underestimated. It's also not just the breaks - each of our opponents came off a longer break (the Dogs had 10 days, the Eagles had 9 days, the Swans had 7 days) and we were coming home from Perth from the last one. We were listless early tonight, the players were just cooked after the last month and after having to pull a major effort out last week to get over the line with two players down.

Losing Viney just rubs salt into the wound. We're now missing Viney, Jones, Watts, Garlett, Hogan and Salem - that's easily six of our best 10 players, possibly with Tyson to add to that. That is an injury list that rivals anything GWS has had all year.

We only had about 6 players play well - OMac, TMac, Jetta, Hibberd, Tyson and Viney whilst he was out there. Gawn was destroyed by Naismith (I never thought I'd write that sentence), Oliver was down, Vince and Lewis gave us nothing (I have real concerns over Vince), and then we had the cavalcade of NQRs who all stunk (Bugg, ANB, Stretch, Harmes, White, Wagner).

White was appalling and clearly a bad selection. Someone at the ground said that Kent, Kennedy and JKH were all overlooked for selection because they went out drinking at a time they weren't supposed to have been - not sure if true but might explain why we played someone as terrible as White. Wagner was also awful and if we didn't have so many injures both ought to be dropped next week.

And finally on Bugg - deserves 4 weeks, if not more. Precisely why I advocated strongly for Schofield to be suspended. This is what happens when payers make contact to the head or to the jaw. There is no defence for Bugg and if he ever gets back into the seniors I hope he learns a lesson and pulls his head in. Disgraceful and tarnishes the other 21.

Not dead, just more realistic. This is a young team and we all got swept up in the bullish media hype. "Are they the Real Deal" and "Dees could go all the way in 2017". The "lid was off" for me BUT, not to the extent of playing in the last two weeks of the finals. I hoped we would make finals and maybe win a game. After that, it was probably unrealistic and not necessarily good for the trajectory of the team in the long term. There are still big gaps in the list and the Swans showed us a little bit of finals strength around the ball and composure under pressure. Hopefully guys like Oliver, Petracca and Hunt will learn from this. We will struggle over the next few weeks now with the injuries we have. Making the finals is now the goal again rather than overblown hype about Grand Finals. For the moment, the lid is back on for me.

Funny old game, footy. And it's a funny old season. It took just this single game tonight to fully reverse our finals chances. More injuries to key players, and with only Hogan a potential in for next week, I'd be surprised if we're still in the 8 by the end of July. All that talk about us being a Premiership chance now seems so bizarrely premature. As has been said since the game came into being, a week is a long time in football!

It is pretty obvious JKH, Kennedy and Kent must have done something as there is no way Dion Johnstone would be ahead of them as an emergency. 

Tonight was not unexpected. We didn't lack effort but lacked spark and were 3-5 steps off our normal spread. This meant they had plenty of short kick options to use and we had no options out of the backline or into the forward line so just dump kicked on most occasions. Gawn seems to be lacking his attack on the ball in the air and holding position since his return and I hope it returns quicker than his beard grows.

Whilst it's great we have won 3 of 4 in 18 days the injury toll has killed us and I expect will ruin our second half of year more than we hope. 

If I look for good points tonight, we never dropped our heads. O-Mac is getting better and better. T-Mac could actually make a serious foil with Hogan on return. You realise how good Salem is when he's not there. You realise how good Petracca will be the more you watch him.   

Rest up. Reset. Go again.

My comment went to the imho , wildly hands on groin, ideal we'd do much in September. Personally I never thought we would, nor this year. We're 3-4 players short of the necessary list and the run home doesn't help. Believe what you will.

For mine 2018 ought correct a few 'gaps' and with experience and momentum/belief we WILL impact Sepf.

By all means go back to choofing !!
