Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Casey report is on the MFC site. Reading between the lines (and reading the actual lines with words):

Kent seems a lock to come in

Maynard a chance

Trenners a chance

JKH/Kennedy less likely than we thought

Would like to see with great interest what Maynard can bring to the team. There's no better time for him to debut.

I have only seen him play live once earlier in the year against Williamstown and his physicality was impressive. Can certainly gather the ball from Casey reports, it might just work against a hardened Carlton midfield.

Agree with you DubDee. Always seem to give a hint of the selection in the Casey report.

100% depends on who they want to take out from last week.

My outs would be: Viney (inj), Bugg (susp.), White, Wagner

Ins: Hogan, Garlett, Kent, Maynard, (Trengove if Tyson doesn't get up)

I think they put hunt back behind the ball, bring TMac back into Defense so your talls are Hogan and Pederson. I think we have performed best this season when we have had an agile forward line. Gee our back 6 would be strong with Jetta, OMac, Frost, Hunt, TMac, Hibberd

Good assessment from you i reckon.

Hullett in the magoos for the magoos. Ouch. Doesn't sound like he played that well either. Not a good sign for his future at AFL level to be in the development league at this stage of the year.

Considering that Casey, even with the return of Spencer, are still relatively light on for tall players it doesn't bode all that well for his future.  He still has time to turn it around, but he hasn't exactly done a whole lot for Casey over the last 18 months.

With a fully fit team, I reckon that should be the first picked back six. Leaves T-Mac third man up for the intercept marks. With Hogan, Watts and Pedo in the forward.

I agree, and Platty's VFL report suggested to me that he might not be too far away from an (unlikely) senior gig. However, there's no word on his elevation from the rookie list, so I'm guessing it won't happen this weekend

Gives me hope for Sunday that we still have our full strength defense against THE lowest scoring side in the league.

As someone else said, they can play T Mac down back and have Pedo and Hogan (if he plays) as our key talls.

They'll beat us in the midfield battle but hopefully our back 6 will have a clear victory and provide great rebound to our mids and forwards.

Also Marchbank & Weitering in some doubt.

I have no idea why some are quick to write us off for this game, even if with the injuries.  We've proven this year that we are never out of games - regardless of how badly we played last week, we were still within striking distance.

This game will be close to be say 'we won't win' is wrong and we've proven that time and time again this season.

It's a little sad. I like to think we're a very good team with a deep list, last week's game came at a bad time and we'd probably have lost to any team. I'm actually fairly confident in who we bring in, we lose a lot of grunt but we have reliable talent everywhere. I'm confident we've transitioned from "developing" to "finals" side. Pretty confident. I don't understate Carlton's improvement and I think they've been good the past month. But they've also been belted a few times this year, so...

Carlton supporters are strangely confident on BigFooty. They're speaking like a finals side. I hope we really drill into them and let them know the difference. Carlton has pushed us around for a decade. Not as bad as North or Hawthorn or St Kilda, but two wins since 1998, it's getting tiring, especially after dominating them in the 2000s (excluding 2006 when they beat us twice and only won 3 games for the year ...).

I have never seen him play but he did look like a bloody hulk in some of the preseason pics.

Sounds as if he will struggle to stay listed.

Do any regular Casey watchers see any real hope?

Swans didn't kick badly in the first quarter. Most shots were from distance or wide. No glaring misses. Defence was the only redeeming feature on a poor night.

There stuck in the good old days and cant accept the reality that as far as besting  our team on a continual basis, the tide has well and truly turned,

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
