Early '07 was the best time to be a Melbourne supporter in my memory. The last few weeks rival that though.

Rolling into the '87 Final series was pretty wild...The crowds got bigger each week

2007 was sad in my memory We lost winnable games and said goodbye to ND

Was too young in '87, but remember being full of hope '94 and '98. Even though we made the GF in 2000, still reckon '98 was the year we had a real chance.

The collapse from being a good team from 04-06 to the drop off in 07 (and subsequent decade long rebuild) was stark. In hindsight, not entirely sure why ND had to go. Was the board just looking for the first opportunity to let him go?

Dees, pay no attention to OTC, maintain your balance, keep your emotions in check and and let the results do the talking.

I have no doubt that you have as much idea as anyone on OTC.

Trust your own instincts.

Exactly. Injuries and the bounce of the ball. We are still a year off truely being a contender, I think we'll run out of gas right at the end.

Loving what we are doing so far in a very even season.

All year the media have tried to pigeonhole teams but it's the most even season in living memory with multiple upsets every week making them look stupid.

As well as we are playing now we could just as easily have lost to Collingwood and West Coast.

It's such a crazy season, just enjoy the ride.

Who was the fourth member of the panel?

The one who said we wouldn't make it.

Jason Dunstall.  He did say he had us fifth though, god bless his little heart ❤️

10 years is a long time. ND did all he could

when Byron came back from holidays in 07 twice the size i knew it was all over.

If Jakovich had lasted the entire '94 season, Well who knows....

'98 we had a real good side, but G Lyon's back was gone.....

Of course. The reality bus hit us pretty damn hard in 2007, round 1 with those injuries and that massive loss. But up until then it was SWEET being the best side in Victoria...

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
