Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Driving home from squash, listening to radio commentary and caught the last quarter and while agreeing that there was plenty of obsequious commentary,it did make me think that Hawks got up through the leadership of Hodge and the marvel of Burgoyne.

If Lewis is our Hodge. Experienced campaigner, Backline general, on field coach, able to inspire through personal example, who is our Burgoyne?

Who can turn the game through an individual effort. B has done this time and time again and success has a constant companion. Can we find one?

Hawks win. This match devalues our win over Adelaide in my eyes, but also shows our game style is the right way to play. When we belted them I thought we'd knocked off an unbeatable team at their home ground. Seeing them lose to a poor team in Hawthorn tonight purely because they can't handle defensive pressure shows them up as a average-good side. They won't be doing much damage come finals time if they can't handle this pressure.

It bodes well for us though as we are the best at putting on defensive pressure. Our game style will stand up in finals. That's exciting.

...still hate seeing the Hawks win. Such an unlikeable team!

Was thinking along a similar line but we have to remember :

Where we are coming from.

Our recent history playing interstate sides.

We gave up a lead before storming over the top of them. (Some people put the North game down as "they were due for a loss" and they were meant to bounce back at home)

Where does this put Richmond then.

Absolutley. Not only does he have the x factor and pure ability he has the desire to impact on games and be 'the man' to stand up and win a game foe us. Goody said as much after the pies game.

We have some young guns - oliver, hogan, hunt, salem, brayshaw, omac - but i fiemy believe trac has the most talent. And we still havent seen his best

These questions always make me cringe a bit to be honest.  We don't have a Burgoyne, or a Hodge, we have an entirely different set of players with different individual characteristics.

so much hype around the Bombers recently - making me feel ill

Ill be cheering on Sydney tonight, even though they are likely to snag a finals spot.  shouldn't effect us though as we are aiming top 4!

Nope ... time for  a Sydney loss

they are getting their old swagger back and believing they have a god given right to September action.

Essendon will crash by itself over time and if not they would be great to play if we made the 8.

Need Sydney to massacre Essendon tonight.

Sure it will mean the Swans are coming hard for a spot in the 8, but it will put Essendrug into the red at 6-7 (equal with Swans) and out of the 8 after this round.

And we have the Swans next week, so lets hope for a Buddy Franklin torn hammy and a Luke Parker strained groin for good measure.

Totally disagree. We want Sydney's season to be over when we face them, not shaking down the thunder from the sky or whatever their theme song says.

Well its not like they're gonna give up on their season if they lose tonight. We will have our hands full next Friday no matter what.

And I can not support in any way the idea of Essendon not only winning a solitary game, but playing finals, especially if it was at our expense.

Think it'll be interesting tonight. Bombers play a game style that troubles Sydney. Similar to hawks and blues (high mark count, slow ball movement) and they both beat Sydney.

Didn't have the radio feed setup prior to the game starting. Such awful repetitive dribble on the tele. If you're unlucky enough to be watching on Foxtel the 7 special comments are basically practiced in the add break before they repeat themselves once the adds are done! Effing hopeless...

The commentary is ruining what promises to be a gleeful evening of at least one team I hate being beaten.

Ling explains what you just saw with your own eyes with absolutely no insight. It's only 'special' comments because he sounds special when he talks.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
