Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yeah I think Pedo fills the gap really well. A NQR that another club wants to see off, like Casboult (God help me) would only frustrate. I think next year we can expect some results from Weed. And then the year after, we'll know exactly what we have.

Just a reminder that we only have to reduce the list by two players this year because Lumumba has already picked himself as the third.

Joel Smith signed a 2 year contract and will be promoted at the end of the season, will take Lumumbas spot. Still need to de-list 3

Said it last year, and will say it again. Those trying to scrape together a list of our 'minimum three' in turnover as per regulations are ignoring the historical reality. Lowest turnover numbers for the last however many years:

2016: Bulldogs/Richmond/Port - 7

2015: Bulldogs/Saints/Hawthorn - 8

2014: Freo/West Coast - 6

2013: Bulldogs/Gold Coast - 6

Just don't want to sell the farm to get someone to cover for a year or 2, then struggle to retain the core. I'd say that's what Tim Smith was brought in for, unfortunately he's injured now, but I wonder if we'll again look at a mature age to provide cover.

I think Weid will come on pretty quickly though, remember he didn't play at all in his draft year, so he was always going to take a little bit of time.

I think Smith will count as a draft pick, so we only need to delist two players.

Strangely  , and no doubt to the surprise of some , i have a different take on things.

Like OD I'd be looking to augment the front and back with players that upgrade the list. If same said players really work out and someone like the Weed struggles to find a spot....then find a trade for the Weed.

It's about US and success. If a player though developing becomes surplus them simply realise that value and invest elsewhere.

While it would be nice to have a Kelly or Lever, I'm getting to the point where I don't think we need that much. Defence, mids, ruck and forwards are developing nicely, as is the hardness, spirit and belief.

Just keep turning over a few players at the bottom of the list, and make sure we have a serviceable backup ruck.

a quick nimble jockey type?  Higgins?

Sam Hayes?

Stephenson.

Patience in not a virtue of many around here. We took Weid at pick 9, knowing that he would take a fair while to develop, especially as he had missed the majority/all of his draft year. If we traded him now we'd be lucky to get a pick in the 20s, which we then wouldn't be able to trade onto T.Lynch, Cameron, Patton (insert other key forward here), as you know the system doesn't work like that.

I think your point was similar to mine, except I'm happy to back them in to develop him as I'm sure they've got planned before starting to think about trading him.

Weeds by the time he is 24 will be a gun, kicking 40 goals a year. Many experts believe, if fit would have went top 2. Just don't know why we can't leave the kid alone to develop. People have short memories look what the lounge chair experts did to Wattsy. Just wait until he weighs 100kilos and has five years in the system.

Only 3 needed:

Key Forward to team up with Hoges, mature 24yo+ maybe. 2 Meter Peter was mentioned. (Previously mentioned on DL)

Extra mid with the tank of a Kenworth truck and class of a Mercedes. Spend the first round on it.

Any player with the heart of Pharlap. Third Round and trade all picks in between to improve first round pick.

And stack them up for following 2018 SuperDraft!

I love this team!

It seems that the days are gone that we will have top 5 picks so we may need to draft a bit more for needs than ever before. With that in mind, what sort of player do you think we need?

For me:

1. Key position defender: Too much reliance on both mcdonald brothers and Frost and all do scare me deep in defence with their foot skills and decision making. a key defender with above average foot skills would be high on the pecking order. Basically Jake Lever.

2. Small forward: Garlett won't be around forever but a genuine speedster with goal sense would be worth targeting. I don't think JKH or Dion johnstone are in that level.

3. Quick midfielder: Oliver, Viney, Lewis, Tyson, Jones, Brayshaw, Petracca arent overly quick. Oliver and Petracca are the most explosive of this bunch over shorter distances but not neccessarily over 50metres. Hunt, Garlett and Frost show the value of speed and another quick mid would be a priority instead of a slower inside mid types that Jason Taylor loves.

Geez, Zorko is a super star who doesn't get enough recognition in Victoria. What would it take to get him to leave Bris and come to us?

Probably a rhetorical question...

Think he signed an extension this year.

We have four ruckmen on our list. Granted two are developers, but we don't need another ruckman, unless Spencil goes.

We have plenty of mid/flanker types.

Key forwards and backs are hard to find so take them where we can I think. Joel Smith showed enough early in the year for mine to show he can play reasonably tall down back given his leap, and potentially up forward.....

Probably get rid of a few of the smaller depth guys in favour of some younger talent will be the main change come the end of the year I think.

Problem is the developing rucks aren't developing and our back up ruck is injury prone

Make a play for Motlop as a stay-at-home small forward then? Geelong might want someone like ANB or Kent.

I would stay way. Doesn't consistently display elite habits. Geelong seemed like they wanted to offload him in recent times

If he consistently did that, he wouldn't be available.

You pick up these players at discounted price and back your footy department.

Impey from port is another I like.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
