The pies fans are annoyed at losing a match to the Dees on QB and want to pull out of the Big Freeze match.  I would have thought they were the perfect opponent for the game.  They build a big lead (28 points ) then Freeze. Long may the tradition continue !!!

I did see a poll created on the Collingwood Big Footy forums.. Maybe PD was referring to that?

I followed a link in there from the After Game thread and after reading a few posts I got out before I caught a disease or ended up on some terrorist watch list.

Very sad little pocket of the world.

They hate it because of the Daniher thing. It doesnt have anything to do with them they seem to think. They want it to be a Melbourne Essendon day. I think i could actually see that happening. Then again who wants to give Essendon anything.

What on earth makes them think changing the day makes it more likely they will win!  Not very smart, those pie fans.

We have beaten them 4 in a row; all at the G - almost enough to make them our bunnies:rolleyes:!

Lets see what they can do in round 23 when it is their home game, again on the G.  I for one, expect the same result.

TBH the agreement by the Pies to give us the home ground status for all QB games and therefore the money is rather generous.

If Eddie goes at the end of the year will be interesting to see if the new administration continues the "favour".

Personally I hate being the beneficiary of AFL (or even worse Collingwood) "charity" but I can't see it changing for a while and if the big clubs keep getting stronger the gap will just get wider.

I have no issue getting rid of Collingwood, and sharing the home game on an alternating basis, the way we do the Anzac Eve clash. Just as long as we don't lose this game, as it is one of only 2 marquee games we get now, and given how often we are shoved to a Sunday afternoon, and how few Friday night games we have, I think it's well deserved!

To think our one and only Friday game this year is coming off a 6 day back from Perth, against Sydney, is seriously laughable!

There was some deal quietly struck. I don't know the full details but it was struck around the time of Etihad Stadium commencing.

As an MCC Member i was somewhat cheesed off!!!

I think it applies to all games they play at The G

But definately as far as i know for all away games they play there, as a "Social Club"  scenario

correct

here is a discussion of the facility by Magpie fans

you will see mention of it applying to away games as well. In theory it allowed them to sell reserved seats:

https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/the-ponsford-stand-why-is-it-so-empty.1072108/

Many of them don't like the position as exampled by this post:

"Eddie and the club have to face it, his great "Magpie end" Ponsford stand idea has died a slow death because he rushed into the worst area in the ground.

What the club should have done is waited for the rest of the northern stand to be built and take the Olympic stand area as the home and away seating, with the cheer squad then behind the goals at the Southern Stand end.

The first year we moved into the Ponsford stand end I had home and away tickets in the Ponsford but they were almost side on to the goals and were very poor seats. I've since moved to M15 for home seats and just buy away seats through the AFL members.

The Ponsford stand idea is failing, simple, we need to compact as many of our members as we can in decent seats, and the Olympic Stand would be a way better option. "

Don't recall them saying they wanted out all those years ago when they were beating us? But so be it then, you would think they would want to keep the QB because they way they are going it might come back to bite them on the bum.

If Pies say no to it and we could choose someone else who would you prefer?
A club with a big supporter base to bring in $$ and also agrees to let us keep it as our home game...
How about someone like Geelong? Two of the oldest clubs

I'd like to hear what people think!

The Collingwood supporters on that board and those who whinge about "charity" are too thick to see the benefits their own club gets out of the day. Do you really think Eddie would do anything solely out of the goodness of his heart? He doesn't do anything that doesn't benefit Collingwood in some way. They get to bank another game at the G, they have sole ownership over reserved seating in the Ponsford stand and they get the exposure of another marquee/standalone game on the footy calendar.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
