Umpires helped us a lot.

Oscar was VAFA in the first half but All Australian in the second.

Fitting that Watts kicked the sealer, an excellent goal at that.

Tyson does himself no favours.

Team selection still wrong despite the win.

On a personal note, Mini Bizkit was born a few days ago, bought her membership last night so today she was our good luck charm.

Great post.

Oscar just didn't use the numbers around him in the first half and gave it back.  Good 2nd half.

Tyson's game had everything; toughness, composure, skill.  Loved his game.

No ruckman.  A lot of our players down or average.  Good win.

 Much to think about

Pies took almost twice the number of marks. Smashed the hit outs and still lost.

Viney, Oliver and Trac had an awesome second half. So funny Watts kicked that goal after pies supporters booing him again.

Glad Watts slotted that last goal, could have easily slewed off his foot, and imagine how unhappy we would have all been, instead here we are in the 8 you beauty.

Great win for the club but just as big game next week against the Bulldogs at Etihad. we are both 6-5 and we are ahead of them on percentage.

We finally won a close one!  On the G no less!  Hooray!

6th on the ladder means we are above Ess (who have played an extra game) and above the Bulldogs...

...and we play the Bulldogs next week - HUGE GAME!

Cometh the hour cometh the Jack.

Still some obvious flaws in the team but at 6-5 with Hogan and Gawn to come back in, you couldn't ask for much more.

That is Jack Watts, I assume?  Re Jack Watts, not bad effort given he played on a bad ankle and went off in the 1st quarter with a back problem which he carried thru the game.  Hopefully no-one pots him for lacking courage...

Why this team refuses to play 4 quarters is beyond me. Do they just expect to turn up and for it to fall our way?

Do we expect that we will still work our way back into games when we are behind? (we have been in every game this year)

For the sake of your supporters' physical and mental health, how about playing good football right from the get go then continuing to do so for the full 4 quarters Dees?

A win's a win, but i reckon i have had my life shortened by 5-10 years this season.

Well we all know we can play a lot better than that which is the great thing about a close win.

Looking forward to a full team four quarter effort next week against the Dogs. They are ripe for picking and this game should have given us real belief.

Who knows... we could go in favourites (O No!!)

Umps helped us in the end.

Given we are ranked 18th for frees for, quite frankly I don't give a toss!

they would need to help us in about 5 more this war to even up the ledger.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
