Again as LH says.. I cannot see it changing in the short to medium term but if we expect to attract reasonable sponsorship we have to be able to deliver FTA coverage

Here is a link that shows all broadcasts -http://www.afl.com.au/tv-radio/broadcastguide  but it is by round.  Its a labourious task to extract it and sort the info into team order.

Had a good look at it a few weeks ago and the front end FTA and prime time slots is heavily dominated by Ess, Rich, Coll and Carlton (who between them won only 27 games and the highest finish was 12th).  Based on the win games to get FTA games AFL 'policy', they certainly didn't earn the exposure.  But somehow they manage to pull strings to get the FTA prime spots. 

Bulldogs also got a fair run but they earnt it by virtue of being Premiers.

It is especially important to clubs to get a lot of FTA exposure early in the season as it helps with membership, merchandise sales and therefore sponsorships.  Of course all it does is help the big get bigger and sets them up for more FTA next year regardless of how they perform.

And the rest of us are fed chips (until we get 60,000+ members and a few premierships).

It's a similar story for the Saturday afternoon VFL FTA telecasts.  Very heavily dominated by Collingwood to the extent that it sometimes looks like the whole exists for Collingwood members.

Coverage is produced by maguire media, so hardly any surprise there.

Youre right. And Freo arent much better than the Lions really.  Their 6-5 record is fluke, as evidence by their very weak %.

Interesting to see what crowd they will get at the G today. Especially with Hodge out. Shame on you hawthorn fans for dropping off because you are now losing and havent had a great season. This club has given you great success in the past 10 years with the premierships they have won. Try going to watch your team play that havent played finals in 10 years and sit there and just hope they compete and you are hoping they dont get beaten by more than 80. Thats what it was like a few seasons ago at our lean time. 

So your team is losing just go with it, they will bounce back. 

anyway on another note I hope Port smash the bummers tonight. Please Port beat them.

Re St Kilda, Gil McLachlan is a Saints supporter.  He weilds a bit of influence at Channel 7.  But I don't begrudge the Saints' FTA.  Like us they are a struggling club and need every bit of exposure they can get.  It is those that are already big and powerful gifted lots of prime time FTA that annoy me.

Jeez Hawthorn are rubbish. Absolutely embarrassing losing to them this year. Currently 8 goals down at the MCG to Gold Coast in the 3rd quarter and don't look AFL standard. That loss to them this year better not cost us finals.

I haven't watched a replay of our Hawks loss (yet?). Can anybody explain how the heck we lost to this rabble?

A pleasant afternoon in the sunshine of the AFL members at the MCG.

Suns played one excellent quarter and Hawks kicked straight which kept them in the game.

Hawks supporters are not quite desperate yet. They still enjoy their glory days and remember when. I am waiting for when they turn on their players like every good depressed supporter does.

Great to watch Ablett. His intercept and near goal in the third was just magic to watch. He is also wonderful around the pack. They will miss him big time
