Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I wonder if Hawthorn are in the frame? Although, perhaps if they're going hard for Shiel and already have Mitchell and O'Meara on their books, it makes a May play less likely.

I reckon we're in the box seat. The fact he met us twice and met with the players like Gawn etc, that usually tells you the deal is all but a matter of getting the trade done.

so assuming we get May what does the backline look like next year?

I thought our shortcomings were Vince and Lewis whereas May is a tall.

Does this mean one of Frost or Omac are back to Casey?

Would not be at all surprised if Frost forms part of the trade for May/KK

Well, with Lever back, we'd have Salem, May, Lever, OMac/Frost, Hibberd, Jetta and Lewis/Jones.

Assuming May is a starter then the 4 bolded above would be locked in (possibly Salem as well)

That would leave 4 fighting for a single spot - something has to give

Disagree. That's true depth.

Besides, it'd be a horses for courses situation and form-related. The best place to be in. Particularly, as two of those four guys are in the twilight of their careers.

Actually our theoretical depth goes way beyond that for possible back six candidates (can you have too much? should we look to bolster the midfield / outside runners rather than continuing to load up in defense?)

- B Fritsch

- TMac if Hogan stays and Weed is going ok

- J Smith

- J Hunt

- H Petty (looks a way off but who knows)

- J Wagner

Llloyd is spot on.

Never thought he'd end up being one of the few AFL media types I like.

Yes - I am also surprised.

Still looks and speaks as if he is as dumb as #@*&^, but his content can be thought provoking.

(Doesn't get rewarded for diving, which is a pleasant change).

Watched the wash-up on the AFL website and M Lloyd said:

  • O Mac isn't a number 1 defender
  • If may comes he thinks May, Lever and Frost is a better combo than May, O-Mac and Lever (which i like the idea of more).
    • To me
      • Frost is just so exciting/a point of difference with his speed (sure he can drop a simple mark or two, but this second half of the season hes been hitting targets by hand and foot, whilst still dropping some easy marks lol)..
      • O-mac is solid, good at out-bodying smaller opponents 1v1 and when we control the midfield looks like a general down back.

Just need Hogan to let us know what his thoughts are.

I'd be happy with a direct swap of May for OMac.

Distinctly different tone that what Mahoney used when discussing Hogan. Could be the state of their club, but I'd like to think it's just that we've got better operators in place. We seem much more realistic about how the whole trading scenario's could work, rather than just being so defensive about everyone.

Hibberd, too. Scary unit bearing down on you at full tilt.

Still like to play Frosty, regularly, for his improving clearance skills, and he augments the Jetta, Hibberd and Salem triad, already. OMac would be the one who should prop up/continue to develop at Casey.

Something slow, skinny, underdeveloped, error-ridden and timid.

Steven May sounds flaky. Do we really want him?

My take is that May wants the Dees, but can't show his hand until Hogan confirms he's seeking a trade to Freo.

We'll know nothing about May's intentions until we know Hogan's.

Oscar might not be as dashing and agile as Frost but he has the better skills and is more composed with ball in hand. Much more composed. He may not be the finished article yet but Oscar played some very good footy this season, especially when Lever was up and about and he could play second fiddle back there.

Add May to the back six, get Lever back from injury and watch Oscar thrive with main glare of a key defensive spotlight off him. That’s the added blessing of having tough-ass gorilla-minder like May come into the side. Takes some of the heat off Lever and OMac.

Frost will be the one pushed to the back of the pecking order if May is brought in. Skill level is not at the level for a side with premiership aspirations. Couple of those fumbly turnovers and wonky 30m passes against an Eagles or Tigers and wooshka ... it’s game over.

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.
