That's another huge win without Hogan in the team.

First Geelong at Geelong, then Hawks at the G coming off 9 straight wins, now Crows in Adelaide.

I firmly believe that we are a better team with Hogan in the side, but clearly we should be doing things differently when he is. What should we do about this little conundrum?

worst 74 hit out game ever....... ??...is there such a thing - won the taps haven't seen the stats but surely we smashed the clearances.. and smashed him around the ground.

Hit outs were 76-29 but clearances were 38-49 and centre clearances an utterly incredible 6-18.

Most will have absolutely nothing negative to say about tonight - and then DLand kept crashing after the win and delivered us something to complain about!

The perfect evening.

Have been out at a birthday party and thought i had drunk too much when looking at scores. Assuming We must have corrected our insane handballing and kicked more tonight. Our winning games have seen a ratio of about 1.30 so far. Tonight?

Was pretty much 1 to 1 ratio wise, a few more kicks than handballs

Hogan needs to change the way he plays (less calling for ball on his head) and Melbourne need to stop always looking for him as the first option.

I love the umpires tonight well for part of it anyway!!

in the third qrt we held two crows players while they didn't have the ball in their f50 and no free kick was called and then it goes down to our f50 and Garlett gets thrown around and is paid the free kick and goals.

Priceless.

I did have a chuckle to myself about that.

Mixed feelings on this win,  will mean nothing if we lose next week, we are still playing one bad qtr every game, also we were down by 26 points in 2nd quarter before we got our game going, this has to change if we are to make finals. Second week in a row we lost hit outs badly but still won the clearances, we would be top 4 if max was playing

Jayden is on SEN right now chatting to the 'Gladiators'. Sounds confident he'll play next week.

Great to hear that he is sounding ok.

Brave kamakazee type.

Inspirational.

I suspect however that he will be "cautiously managed".

Is Melbourne the only team to have been at least level in the last quarter of every game this year? I'm not saying we could easily be undefeated, but...relax we've got this.

Hopefully Hogan, and the team, will learn that Jesse is part of the team, part of the forward line and though I think we all agree that we are (at least potentially) better with him, he needs to be more team focused.

What ishis tackle count per game this year?

2 on 1 contests.

Even in the recent past, we would have both players attempt to tackle a lone opponent. It looked like the objective was to force a stoppage.

Tonight, one of our players would peel off in the belief that his teammate would win the contest and handball.

Did anyone else notice this?

Having not seen the game other than the highlights, this is really pleasing to read.

Against much better opposition than last week, we've learned a couple of really important lessons.

You'll enjoy the replay :)

Melbourne on the rebound after last weeks loss will be a difficult proposition for Adelaide...

Well there you have it...

We've been conditioned to be worried about other teams on the rebound against us.

Maybe it's time to realise we are good enough to beat anyone on a given day.

I said the the Game day thread that Bugg would probably get a ton of the ball but cost us about 3 goals from turnovers. I reckon I ended up about -6 in my predictions there...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
