Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

GAMEDAY - Round 6

Frost needs to play on Daniher and work him under the ball. I have a feeling we will see T-Mac in a different role either in ruck or forward or both. If we set up well at the stoppages and hit in hard like we did last week's first half, not having a ruck wont matter. Hoping the return of Lewis and Hibberd "allows" Vince to play mid-forward rather than back. If Trac plays hoping he plays deep coming out of the square next to Watts.

I'll be devastated if we lose again today, I hope the boys are going to bring four quarters of hard footy, I've been having nightmares of Joe Daniher carving us up again, outmarking Nev Jetta because of the silly zone defence.

A fair chance the roof will be open as long as it's less than 20% chance of rain.

The only time they ever open it is the 1:10, 1:45 or 2:10 games.

Ambrose out is handy for us. He's a decent key defender.

When Essendon starts attacking Daniher will be tracking back to wherever Jetta is like a dog descending on his bitche on heat.

I wonder how Omac would go in the forward line. If he pretends to be playing in defence, some of those cross goal kicks may result in a couple of goals for us.

Agreed although like pulling off a bandage, its usually wiser to get it over with.

I take that back, we will win today.

Well I had an excellent shiraz assisted night's sleep and am "rarin" to go. I'll be viewing from The Manor of course as I avoid the shithole as much as possible.

However, for those who want to touch my clothing, I'll be at the G next week.

As to today's game, There has been a lot of talk about "Moustache Joe" but I'm not convinced he can back up a big performance with such a short break. The key of course is to keep the pill at our end of the paddock.

I'm a Pedo man so I'm hoping he'll prove the doubters incorrect.

If we lose I shall seriously consider bar b queing one of The Lads. I shall then [censored] myself out of remorse.

Hawks, Swans and North have opened up 3 top 8 spots that we are fighting for with half a dozen teams.

Port will take one for sure. We lose today it's not curtains but will make it very difficult for us.

We can win this one, we will have the fresher legs ( just ) and I expect us to run away with it in the last quarter.

If we lose today say see ya later for 2017 IMO

First they take an acid trip and then they read the tea leaves -

its the same way I make most of my important decisions.

Never fails.

A red letter day for us.

We need to be consistently around the .500 mark to get to September this year. I feel we might come home with a wet sail once the ruck situation gets sorted. Get too into the red and it doesn't matter how good Maxy is in the last half or so.

The other issue is that I want us to roll Essendon. A September of self righteous gloating and talk of 'the comeback' may drive me over the edge.

Will be utterly devastated if they lose today. It simply can't happen. If we can't get up today with the shape the team is in, it makes it tougher to do against other teams. All circumstances considered, if we want to play finals then ultimately this is the game we win. Lose and we make it increasingly tough, bordering on impossible considering our team structure.

Jones, Viney, Tyson, Vince, Lewis, McDonald and Watts all need to lead from the front today. If they all have good games, we win.

I'm worried about the injuries some of our guys are obviously carrying.  Viney and Trac both had their knees taped up and were lucky to play out the game last week.  Jones occasionally has to stop and hold his arm - maybe shoulder or elbow.   We halved the stoppages against a losing ruck last week so I hope our midfield are fit enough to do it again.  Lucky we got the extra day for recovery.

Reckon this game goes one or two ways..  Whatever plan the coaches have come up with without a ruck & key forwards works & we get some reward for the constant inside 50s we've been having or it doesn't work & it all turns to [censored] & they roll us.

Either team by 6 goals

Last year's loss to them was just utterly infuriating. We led by 6 points with 9 minutes left, and allow them to run all over us. Our 3 losses this year have been very similar. If it's close near the end, I have zero confidence we'll come out on top. We have too many players that just look for ways to spud it up and lose it. I think our only chance to win today is to jump out from the blocks.

I realise the FD might have one eye cast a week's hence against Hawthorn...but theyre cooked...and hopefully dont redo the menu just in time for us..

But TODAY...I just want to win...I want the team to REALLY want to WIN. If it had to be a choice..( and dont see it as one..but if )  I want today.

As long as we can maintain a structure up forward and down back we should win. We can't afford to have Watts in the ruck and then no forward targets in his absence. Likewise down back if Frost or Tmac rucks and it buggers up structure. As long as the coaches can plan for that then we win. Our midfield will destroy theirs around the ball. We're a better team that Essendon.

If we lose this week I'll be disappointed. If we lose next week against the Hawks I'll give up. Next week should be a 70-80 point belting to give us a percentage boost we failed to get against Carlton.

I've had a number of concerns with Goodwin since round 1. Our structures, rotations, positioning, and conversion have all had big question marks, even in our wins. I highly recommend people keep an eye on our bench today: there has not been a game this year where players haven't been confused about rotations and positions. It sometimes looks a shambles.

We can't afford that [censored] today. Everyone needs to be on song. Not just the playing group. Goodwin needs to coach his heart out.

We need to have Pedo clunk a few pack marks in the fwd line today - I feel we are a bit short with Jeffy, ANB, Hannan and JKH.

maybe oMac can bring a few to ground??

Go dees..

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
