Sent an important email to his team mates last monday

He will be invaluable over the next 12 days...

If he didn't know how to tap the ball to the advantage of his teammates when he falls to ground or is outpaced by his opponent, he'd have finished up years ago. He's good at that though, and combined with his good game sense, off-field leadership and occasional smart ball use he's s handy player for us for sure.

Nice if he gets to a Hodge at Lions and poke Hawks in the eye with a burnt stick

Talk is, Jordan sent a group email to the player group after last weeks win, to reign the group back into line and get them to focus on the bigger picture being finals.

Was quite evident today the player reaction after the win was extremely subdued, especially compared to last week.

This is the exact reason the club recruited him...to assist the team heading into a finals campaign...

Always been a big finals player. Excited to see what he has left.

Possibly the first Email 90% of our list has ever gotten too.

Might make a half decent coach one day.

Measured, resolute and focussed.

Hope he hangs around our joint for a while.

On top of the email he sent apparently he stood up and did the after game meeting for the boys. It's clear he's trying to control the mindset of the group.

He was as solid as a rock again today. More than you could say for Jones. If it comes down to a decision between Lewis or Jones next season with an Andrew Gaff coming into the midfield, I'd be going Lewis almost every time. He rarely makes mistakes.

Just so important for the younger players, the Brayshaws, Olivers, Harmes, Fritschs. THIS is what teams like Hawthorn and Sydney (especially) have had through all these years - and we haven't. By the time Lewis moves on, we'll have established a Melbourne way of doing things, the kind of tough, take no prisoners, nose to the gindstone, just get the job done, ownership approach that characterises successful teams.

IMV, can't overestimate enough his contribution to what we're seeing now.

Whether Lewis is considered valuable or not will be determined in the next 2-3 weeks, where he will play against the best players/coaches where the speed is on and stakes are highest.

If he loses his feet, and gets caught lagging, allowing Duncan 3 easy goals in the last half of an elimination final; thereby throwing us out, the glowing tributes will about-face here quickly...again.  Then all we will hear is the intangibles of emails and leadership.

Just enjoy the ride TG... he has been valuable over the last part of the season, he appears to be directing the playing ground to a focused and hopefully successful finals series.

Jesus you really are a happy contented soul aern’t you. The MFC just made the finals for the first time in 12 years, and are being mentored on and off field by a 4 time Premiership Winner.

And you cannot wait for him to fail...

Whatever happens in the next 4-5 weeks, the recruitment of Jordan Lewis has been a superb decision.

You cannot buy his experience online or in a shop

Went to the game yesterday, with a mate who is Hawthorn supporter. He also played VFL.

His comment as we were leaving the ground "Gee, I would love to have Lewis in our backline next month"

That was enough for me.

Lewis would be coming into his element... Hello old friend ( finals ). Here his experience in invaluable.

We often talk about leadership , well here it is. " Welcome to finals footy fellow Dees. ....   and this is what we do...follow me"

We're lucky to have him going into September.

Agree  bb   Now is the time! This is what he was recruited for fantastic for our group to have him there playing.Very very important cog in the finals team.

Lewis' game yesterday was excellent. Mind you the game seemed to be played at a moderate pace which I am sure helped him.

Well worth his spot in the side.

Yeah, and if he kicks 5 we will win and he will be amazing.

No point getting upset about a hypothetical situation.

Dazzle i have only EVER wanted September Finals

My negativity has always stemmed from a club that previously happily accepted honourable losses occasionally and the odd win

until recently i have been concerned with Goodwin’s defensive game plan, but Frosty has certainly lowered my blood pressure count, he is a wild bull, who will make the odd mistake, but he also may hold Hawkins to 1-2 goals.

I take Goodwin at his word. It is his job to prepare 22 blokes for a 2 hour battle, Lewis has won 4 flags, Goodwin 2 Flags.

Let’s see how much this young talented, but still erratic bunch of kids can soak up in the next 10 days

we can smash Jeelong IF we play as a single unit...

I do not get your hatred for Jones.

The bloke stuck with us when he had every right to chase success somewhere, all the while being a bloody good player in the process.

I think he's doing exactly what we needed him for right now. I'd be a little concerned without his composure in the back half.

I don't hate Jones. He seems like a really good bloke and I applaud him for sticking with us when times were extremely tough, but he's just about done. Even when we were flying yesterday he was fumbling and failing to execute.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
