So to clarify it's not like for like at all, as Hibberd, Salem , Vince and Hunt can all play half back.

Dont mind the changes. Kent yes Im a little surprised but happy to see JKH back. Hope he can add something to the forward line. Obviously rapt to see Jesse back. He is one forward that troubles Rance. Bugg from memory did ok in the same game last year. Good to see Smith get another go and Hibberd well it will be good to see what he can do. 

Remember last year it was the game where Rance did that dog act of a hit on Watts.

Hibberd is a gun. Can't believe we got him - some people here plainly don't get it. 

And well done Saty on the Tim Smith prediction. Pedo must be slightly on the outer - personally, I like him in the team.

Not happy that Kent's been omitted.

Was something that I think it was Plapp commented on, that he needed to work on the defensive side of his game, so perhaps not as surprising as what it might seem.

Not sure about omitting Kent seems like he's suited for the big stage, although he mustn't be focused enough on the defensive aspects of his game. The inclusion I'm most looking forward to is actually Tim Smith. With Hogan back, Smith is an exciting second option forward, he is mobile and with the focus on Hogan I wouldn't be surprised if he had a big impact Monday.

I was hard on Kent during game day and a few people disagreed with me. 

 

What I saw was a bloke who looked to get on the end of easy ball and didn't work hard enough when we didn't have it.  The thing that stood out the most though was the time he took when he got the ball at half forward.  Maybe it was the lack of Hogan, but 3 times he marked it 60-70 out, walked back slowly, then took too long before kicking inside 50 ineffectually. 

If he wants to play that position he needs to bring more to the table defensively and needs to move the ball quickly when we are on the attack. 

 

I did like that he generated shots on goal, but if he isn't going to get the other things right he needs to convert more of those opportunities.

All I can think of is that he must be doing something right, regardless of how Goodwin rates him.  I'd love to know the stats of the players he is playing on during a game.  Perhaps, defensively, he has been terrific, even if he hasn't given us a whole lot going the other way yet.

@Petraccattack - help me out here, whilst I really rate Kent's power running offensively (and clear lack of pressure defensively - presumed reason for omission) - why is THIS a game that he would excel in?

Yes i know that but Hibberd has come in and can slot into Melkshams spot.

Kent can stay in and we can have Smith for Hannan, JKH for Bugg, Hogan for Weideman

Also perhaps it's more structural, wanting to move Salem up the ground or into the mids, and there's no like-for-like half-back replacement (Wagner injured, White coming back from injury). Lewis comes back next week as well, so that's the spot Melksham is keeping warm.

Richmond are a small fast team all about speed in their forward half and pressure around the ground. Kent out is a poor decision by the coaches as he is one of the few who has potential to help us handle their game style. His replacement in JKH offers less. JKH is one of the slowest indigenous players I've ever seen. On top of his lack of speed he doesn't win much ball, doesn't hit the scoreboard much, doesn't lay a lot of tackles and isn't very damaging with ball in hand. He's a list clogger IMO and his inclusion in place of Kent is a poor one.

The other swaps are all fine to me, Bugg a little unlucky to be dropped as he is consistent and played well against Tigers last year.

You don't think the club have considered this, Trav?  Kent might be quick, but if he isn't doing the team things within the structure (which is why I assume he was dropped) then it's the right decision.  We have enough players to create the pressure we need across half forward.

I'm in the same boat.  There is no disputing that he's made a slow start to his career with us, but I think in time he'll turn out to be a handy addition to the side.

Theres a fair chance this match could be a shootout between ether sides smalls.  Thought Kent would thrive in that climate.

Anyways, Vlaustin is a big out or them - their 2nd best lock down player after Rance and one of their toughest few.  A couple of Tiger supporters at PuntRoadEnd forum are saying they cant win now lol
