I didn't want the Saints to win but they were seriously [censored] over by the umpires. That free kick count, just like the one last night, shows the pathetic bias by umpires towards certain teams. Enough already!

Saints were stiff but that's footy, happens to the best.

bombers look dangerous but I don't know if it's their skill or the emotions they're playing on. I had most of my essendon mates banging on about they they're going to make the eight and such pre-season. I really don't want them to be right.... like... really

Seven never pass up an opportunity to broadcast a game with Essendon, Collingwood, Richmond, Hawthorn, Carlton or Geelong playing.

Interstate clubs and smaller Vic clubs are like lepers to Seven.

stop playing the victim card! 7 will play whatever makes them money.... if we win games then they have to give us these slots. simple

I know what you mean, they'll be insufferable if they make the 8. Really don't want that to happen.

Saints were unlucky this week, actually very similarly to how we lost to the eagles last year. Inaccuracy and the umpires torched them, eagles just did enough when it counted. It's a shame the umpires need to be able to hear in order to catch things like touched off the boot, otherwise I'd say they should look into noise cancelling technology to cut out the crowd. Zero doubt it has a massive influence on their decision making and any umpire that tells you otherwise is lying.

Was flicking between the Lions/Bombers and the Eagles/Saints games and there were some shocking haircuts in both.

Checking your Avatar, do you really think that you are qualified to comment on hair cuts??

I will say it now Garry JR does not care anymore, Gold coast has no injures so they got nothing to blame, there is a reason why two NRL clubs have failed there a A league team failed, no football team will play well there,  and wow 8000 to a AFL game GWS might win the flag but no one will care.

umm, not that simple.  You have to have a large number of supporters to seduce Ch 7 and the advertising $. Winning games over decades is required to get those numbers.

There's a definite pattern emerging in the AFL this season.

The clubs that are getting an extraordinary run from the umpires are -

Western Bulldogs;

West Coast Eagles and

• Greater Western Sydney.

See what's happening?

I have the answer.

Change the name of the club to the West Melbourne Demons.

Do it now PJ!!!

You could be right.

I had simply assumed that surgeons had discovered how to sew a hyena's head onto a human body.

Wow. Just wow. Anyone see Ablett's jog then?

Didn't watch yesterday's game but if it's the same incident that you noticed, ch9 showed the footage of a seemingly disinterested Ablett on the Sunday footy show this morning.

I'd hate to see a player like Ablett jr lay down the tools.  We see it quite a bit in pro-sports around the world primarily because of the big dollars that are 'guaranteed'.

3Qtr time:  Port 117, Freo 46.  Freo never had much offensive, now they don't even have defence nor contested game

Lyon may have a long contract but that won't save him.  Freo have deep pockets and they showed their ruthlessness when they sacked Harvey and in the dark of night poached Lyon.

World of pain for all.  It may be just enough to lose Fyfe.

Freo are absolutely shite, they conceded 10.6 from turnovers in the first half kicking 0.1 themselves from the same source. Genuinely strike me as worse than Carlton and likely to collect the spoon. Not sure if there is a precedent either (Judd aside) for a team captain to leave his club as an RFA- even in his case there were few causes for complaint from Weagles fans given he captained them to a flag, Fyfe walking out on the club when they're in the shitter will set them back a long time.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
