Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It's a battle of the midfields, if Carlton win the midfield battle it'll be a tight game if we win it'll get ugly very quickly.

I suspect we will see a burst of goals from us at some stage

Does Carlton have a midfield ?

They have some names for sure. Not much cohesion or clout though.

Boos might as well stay home and rest.

Their midfield tore us apart last time if I recall correctly. Gibbs and Cripps did the job. Murphy played well against the Tigers last week also.

we should have a lot more depth but we know what happens when we think we have it in the bag.

Gibbs smashed us last year as did Cripps.

Bit like the Saint had the wood on us. That was then..this is now.

The Saints DO have  a midfield.... got clobbered last week I seem to recall.  Our form last year was a rollerc oaster

The matchup in the JLT is actually more a predictor Id suggest

Yes... but you can forgive people for being a tad skeptical until we see them back it up each week. Haven't done it for a decade or so.

I am optimistic, but it is a long season. We were good last week, but Saints were not at their best. We can still improve. We should [censored] Carlton.

I think that's the thing, all indications are we should win and win easily. Last year against Essendon all indications were that we should win and win easily.

Losses like that are burnt into our supporters brains, that won't change for quite a while. I will say this though, there was something different about the team last week. Once we got in front we just looked comfortable, like whatever the saints sent at us we'd just shrug our shoulders and get on with it. The win last year against GWS was arguably very lucky, there was nothing lucky about our win against the saints. We were good, and we didn't allow them to be good.

Kreuzer - is a donkey, well diplomatically 'serviceable' who'll have 3 better than good games per season... Max however is echelons above him and is quite frankly disrespectful to Max to even consider the two in the same breath...

I might be in the minority here Pates, but I didn't really feel that way last year.  I tried to talk myself into it, and probably looking back on my post history for that round would suggest I was confident, but I was trying to convince myself more than anything.  Our win over GWS was great, but we didn't exactly play well, and I knew the Bombers would be up and about.  That proved to be correct.

This week feels different, which is what you have alluded to above.  We played ripping footy and we have a pretty fit list to choose from as well.  We are cleaner, slicker and have that killer instinct that I don't feel we had last year.  I'm far more confident going in to this week than I was at this time last year.

Difference this year and say the Ess game was we all thought it wasca lay down misere. Funnily enough we started game late. Carlton..again...had it won before the game, forgot to turn up.

F fwd to now. We're pretty switched on. Players on notice its all 100% or go home.

Got this by 10 goals.

Back on topic. I essentially agree.

The great Blue marvel is in reality an agile plodder who has an occasional day out.

Max is the leagues new benchmark.

Chalk and cheese

We will win and win easily, but it won't just be Big Max and the midfield that will do the job for us it will be like last week, a full team effort.

This is a different Melbourne and one I haven't seen for many years, they have self belief and ability, together with a game plan equipped to handle the current day's style of play. We handled them in the JLT and they had most of their top players in at the time, so I can'r see any reason why we shouldn't do the job again.

What happened last year and previous years has nothing to do with what will happen from here on in, we are a different club and it will take a god side to beat us, Carlton aren't a good side.

This is the kind of thread that supporters reference to mock overly confident fans after their club gets an upset win over them. (see BomberBlitz round 10 2012).

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
