Is it just me or has Melbourne's website, social media and all round communication been in the bin lately?

A classic example is the player's page on the website which still has some images up from 2015, while new players have just been clipped out of other images.

We seem to be getting less and less injury information whereby we rely on news reports to find out what is happening instead of the the club just coming out and saying.

Yes, the season hasn't stared yet but I just feel like the club has gone backwards in this regard and it's extremely frustrating.

Been saying for a long time that its one of the worst in the AFL. I brought up the issue about the player profiles still being there from 2015 and got howled down by Saty who said it was a none issue and will be back to normal.. oh and apparently i should 'get over myself' over such a small issue.

Another issue was the lack of advertising and promotion for the Casey v NT redtails game that the footy club organised. For a club that is trying to build through the NT we failed once again to promote the game and get supporters down to watch. Barely anyone at the game.

How very dare you criticise our esteemed club dazzle! Don't you know, young people don't look at the club website anymore... ;)

Having said that, much of the content is controlled by the AFL.

But I agree, it wouldn't take much for the simple things like player profiles to be up to date and consistent

Also as Clint has pointed out injury updates have completely dried up. Joel Smith didn't play in both the WC game and Casey intra club match. And as you say, simple updates to know whats going on with certain players.

If we are forking cash for memberships etc then we have every right to lnow whats going on within the club.

Email the club, Dazzle. That's what I did when the JKH injury appeared on 7 news before the website or social media. The site has been a real disappointment lately, worse than previously and it's time they got some honest feedback.

Agree with this.  The site has definitely been lacking.  I'm assuming a lack of resources in this area.

I would be gobsmacked if 'Lack of Resources' was the real reason behind the lack of updates on injuries or Club events? I mean what our computers still on Microsoft Explorer 6??

Particularly bad that we couldn't have done more for our NT sponsors! Reading the reviews of the AFLW's game in Darwin on the weekend when our girls had an almighty victory against Adelaide, it was disconcerting to read that the majority of those at the ground were supporting the Crows. The NT Government must have been disappointed that our message/marketing has had little impact on awareness and support amongst the local populace! We should be the team backed by the local population and have the strongest support (read membership numbers) out of all the AFL Clubs: It is not as though they don't follow AFL up there!

Massive indictment on our marketing division!

I hear what you say DC but the fact is that the NT Government have chosen to sponsor us and when NT was part of South Aussie, football hadn't been invented. With past stars such as Aussie, Matthew Whelan and Aaron Davey, we should be able to lever off that properly!

I supported someone with this query on Feb.  Our friend Stu A objected and banned me from his supporter page. I still think we miss the boat with merchandise and supporter information

Ha not surprised. Had a disagreement with him on a football issue and he banned me as well.

In a kind way the bloke is a dead set peanut.

Plus apparently half the Crows team were NT natives.

The Melbourne club website has always been the worst in the AFL.. compare the content of it to all other clubs, particularly post game.  I decided to have a good look at the other club websites last year to see if the MFC one was really as bad as it seemed, and they blew ours out of the water.  Barely worth checking it except for the player interviews after a win.  In fact I dont even look at the club website at all except for after a win.

I have also been howled down on here for mentioning it in the past.

The content is poor. Interviews are shallow and uninformative.

Matt Burgan's standard interview question is: how did you find it? After repeating that three times he has nothing.

Shocking lack of sub-editing/proofreading.

Robbo is an asset but seems to only get PR-type assignments. His 'I was good just ask me' routine is tiresome as well.

Yes it is definitely lacking   we didn't even get the final few days reports on the maroochydore camp, it just stopped after day six or whatever.

I am sure people would even be willing to volunteer for this to improve communication...

Player profiles would be great if they were more indepth with up to date pics. Just look at the big head shot of Melksham let alone the far out of date pics of spencil or the lack of the gawn beard

And some injury or training reports would also be nice

Yeah, look.  It's not flash.  I thought a few years back the content was pretty decent, but it seems that they've dropped the ball over the past 18 months or so.  And it's the little things, too - not updating pictures, late or non-existent reports, no news about injuries etc.  I think they do okay on pre and post match interviews and the like, but it's not enough.

I actually think they put more effort these days into, for example, their Instagram account.  The problem with this is that it's just pictures, and it gives very little information about anything else.  I know they're trying to keep up with the times, but they don't need to let the website slip like they have.  It's a little unprofessional.

Agreed the clubs supporter page is as ragged as a pair 15 year old jocks!!

Time for a boost!

Well when we had a VFL side in 2012 we had a good web site.

Now we have a much better side and a worse web site.

Seems a fair trade off to me.

of course footy had been invented then nt was part of sa till 1911. sa and nt have always been closely connected by railway and road and to this day there is a lot of movement of people between sa and nt.the ties to sa are much much stronger than to vic, despite a nt-mfc contract

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
