I seem to recall Patrick Dangerfield having concussion worries earlier in his career, maybe even up until just a few years ago.

He hasnt had one since - is this just dumb luck or did he modify his game somehow? He is obviously still as ferocious as ever and nobody hits contests harder or faster.  Perhaps Gus should give him a call.

I think the majority of Gus's issue's have been more bad luck than a technique issue. He copped a wet ball to the back of the head and the latest was behind the play, so not much he could do about them.

I'd like him to have a good block, at least 3 or 4 weeks (maybe longer) at Casey, even if he does go back and kill it this weekend, just to make sure when he comes back there's nothing in the back of his mind that might hold him back.

Dangerfield is a car crash waiting to happen. Although he is one of the special exemptions that are allowed to dive on the ball without getting pinged for taking the opponents feet out, playing like Dangerfield would only result in more concussions for Brayshaw. If he needs to give anyone a call it would be Ablett jr, or Marc Murphy, who keep their feet around a contest, and wait for that ball to come out.

Paul Roos' bias is frustrating, even as a dees supporter.

I'm loving it. So used to getting the other end of the stick.

Opposition supporters especially hate it. It's great.

Why?

Because I prefer unbiased commentary obviously. And Roos has always been known for his strong bias towards the swans and now us. I don't find his comments terribly constructive or insightful.

Is there a commentator who isn't extremely biased? Commentators wear their allegiances on their sleeves these days. Whateley is perhaps the most balanced, but everyone else, pfffh.

Personally, I think it's amazing that there's someone who people respect that logically outlines where we're at and what we're truly capable of in time. Very important to have someone on your side in this age of knee jerk media scrutiny.

Sorry to say Gus is damaged goods, one more concussion will end his career. We can't expect to get anything for him, that's not to say we can't get a diamond in the rough.J.Smith will become a mid so will maynard in the future however that doesn't solve our current problems.

It seems to be the same posters on a different day or week that say he can't kick or will be finished with one more head knock.  We get it.

I reckon you're spewing unadulterated cr@p, but it's your right to do so.  Just not every frigging second day.

Step away from Demonland for a couple days to re-calibrate my head only to come back to Brayshaw trade suggestions? Maybe it's you guys who are crazy and not me. This kid is a future leader of the Melbourne Football Club. Copping a couple head-knocks doesn't change that. Patience, my pretties.

Would love to be wrong about gus, but the more i see/longer these concussion issues drag on - the more i see it becoming a trengove part 2. He hasnt looked right for a while now.

Which is a shame, as he has more potential than most on our list. He has shown what he is capable of. Him coming on with tracca, clarry and hunt would be amazing.

Still has time on his side. Hoping for the best.

Exctatic to see/hear gussy will be playing half back flank for Casey. Played a fair bit there as a junior if I recall correctly. Can be a big time play creator from there and a game breaker if firing all cylinders upstairs in the future. Hopefully just instructed to not back into packs for this year, but otherwise, I believe he can own this role and be a top line hbf.

Ps. Joel smith as a third tall backmen (if he makes it, as we all hope he does) is a given too. (hate to compare but Howe does the same role pretty well too). There's no need to have any and everyone who can find the footy crammed in the guts. Need guns all over the field, capable of winning the contest irrespective of which blades of grass they're standing on.

Brayshaw in form is in our top 10 players. Any discussion of moving him on or his career being finished is stupidity.

Maybe on potential but definitely not based on anything he has produced at AFL level this far.

In 2015, coming 11th in the Bluey as a 19 yo first year player doesn't show anything at AFL level?

Some people are hard to please!!

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
